What boots are we all wearing this winter?

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePleaseBarista · 25/10/2026 20:49

I have some boots that look fine with dresses but feel frumpy with jeans. I am looking for a nice pair of comfortable flat or low heel boots to go with wide leg and barrel jeans.
Possibly a pointed toe?

I am a curvy 10/12 and quite a classic dresser with a nod to current trends IF they suit me.

Has anyone found a gem?

I have lost loads of weight this year and got a knee high pair of boots from Clarks that l could never get into before- plan to wear the hell out of them as they have sat in a box for years! Had lots of compliments on them already.

How did your feet lose weight?😕
She says they are knee high, presumably she has lost weight from her calves to be able to wear them.

Feet sizes also change through life though, usually flattening with age, but I suppose they could also become smaller...

I think this is different from the shape being discussed above, but it was recommended on here and I'm really loving it. Basically old school monkey boots with a clumpyish sole but crucially a low cut ankle boot shape. The original recommendation was a DM style, but I bought Grafters as they were much cheaper . They are comfy and work really well with balloon jeans.

I've been umming and ahhing about getting these... the blurb suggests they are comfy but I've not tried Air and Grace before

These are the front runners at the moment. If they were in leather I would say 10/10!

@Ophy83blue light has 10% off making them a bit less harsh on the bank account too.

Legs lose inches when you lose weight.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · Yesterday 19:55

I don't have germophobia but I am not into communal boot sharing. ( Certainly not after that time wIth Lorraine and her verrucas.)

Catsandcheese · Yesterday 19:57

I’m just wondering about these. I’m very old and not sure what I’d wear them with but I think they’re delightful

Oh of course! Sorry, I was thinking of the feet and hadn't mentally envisaged the boot properly.

Dubarry Wexfords. Men’s, to accommodate my enormous stompers. They are brilliant. Warm, comfortable, practical, waterproof. Good grip on the soles. Hardly had them off my feet since I bought them. They cost a fortune but hopefully will last a lifetime.

I’ve been looking for the same OP. Sock boot style/pointy or chisel toe to wear with carrot/barrel style jeans but not with a high heel.

I personally think you need a more delicate/less clumpy style ankle boot to wear with wide leg or barrel style bottoms and ones that sit tight around the ankle.

I’ve ordered these in brown so 🤞🏽
https://www.next.co.uk/style/sv104125/g38564

wanted these too but out of stock in my size sadly! https://www.next.co.uk/style/sv026089/y39506

I also considered these but decided I needed a sturdy heel… https://www.clarks.com/en-gb/pisa-top/26334800-p

I'm not shopping for boots so no links I'm afraid, just dropping in to say I've been wearing wide leg and barrel jeans with chunky, round toe ankle boots (Solovair) for a several years. I disagree that it's a problem. Fine if you personally prefer a daintier look - not my concern - but I don't like to see preferences hardened into rules.

I do have some cowboy boots with a slightly pointy toe but I prefer them with skirts.

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePleaseBarista · Today 08:33

Probably up to around £200ish but not much above. @KungFuDancingI will pop into Dune at the weekend, if they are comfortable we may have a winner!

No one is turning preferences into rules, I am personally looking for a pair of comfortable flat boots with a pointed toe.

Just in case you have a DM outlet near you, I saw these exact boots for ~£60 in our local MacArthur glen outlet a few weeks ago.
