What's your routine in the morning for your hair and how long does it take you?

Brush, part, go. 30 seconds

mondaytosunday · 21/10/2026 21:21

I wash it every three or four days. So wash day comb it when wet then go about my day. On non wash days just give it a quick brush and that’s it. I am blessed with very think wavy hair and have a hairstylist who gets it. Truly wash and wear!

C080889 · 21/10/2026 21:23

Approx 10-15 mins. I have hair styles on a rotation for my working days / wash routine. Its either quick straighten or curl or a slick pony / bun.

CardboardScott · 21/10/2026 21:24

If I’m going into the office I’d style it nicely. Takes about 10 mins.

If I’m WFH I’d just brush it.

I don’t wash my hair every day.

missspent · 21/10/2026 21:25

Wash in shower, dry and straighten, add products. 30 mins?

GameOfJones · 21/10/2026 21:25

A quick brush and that's it. I wash it every other day but that's in the evening.

I get a keratin straightening treatment every six months so it is super easy to manage.

Charlenedickens · 21/10/2026 21:29

Wash every three or four days, sleep in heatless curlers, wake up in morning, brush it out, had one clip in extension either side for some more volume and which are on a curling rod over night, job done, within 3 mins, my hairs long , below my boobs,

tinyspiny · 21/10/2026 21:31

Brush and go , it’s very quick .

malarkeyisntmeasurable · 21/10/2026 21:32

I’ve got very short hair. Wash, dry, style every morning - 15 mins

Youngbutsuccessfulmum · 21/10/2026 21:45

Brush and go. Takes 10 seconds

I wash my hair 2-3 times a week. This is usually in the mornings. I just let it dry naturally and rub a brush through it if I need to leave the house.

Each to their own of course, but it baffles me that people spend so much time to doing their hair in the mornings. Same with make up. Mine takes me about 3 minutes as I just use crayons/pencils on my eyes and a bit of mascara. My mornings are so quick to get ready, very efficient! It means more time to relax, or start work early and then be finished early

PropertyD · 21/10/2026 21:58

15 mins just after shower Wash every second day. I will be honest- when people take seconds to do their hair you can always tell.

EdinaTheConfessor · 21/10/2026 22:02

I have basically no hair that goes greasy quickly.

Wash every morning
Apply hair growth serum
Various thickening lotions/sprays
Blow dry
If going “out” use either dry shampoo or other volume booster to give hair some kind of oomph.
possibly finish off with straighteners if needs a bit of tidying up.
10 mins? (As have next to no hair it dries super quick)

Elfie23 · 21/10/2026 22:08

I have long thick hair (that I’ve had enough of and it’s getting a chop next week!) currently takes 20 mins to wash, about 10 mins to dry and if I can be bothered to straighten it about 15 mins 🙈 I know some people would say they’d love it but honestly it’s a chore and I can’t wait to chop about 6 inches off

DiscombobulatedHedgehog · 21/10/2026 22:13

Brush it. Stick an Alice Band on. That’s it.

Hurryuphumphreygeorgeiswaiting · 21/10/2026 22:26

5 minutes. If i am working, going to the gym I brush, put my hair in a bun or plait it. Simple.

Greenjersey · 21/10/2026 22:27

I've short hair. I wet the bit that's always stuck up in the morning and brush it. That's it.

Yestheysawmecoming · 21/10/2026 22:29

Wash it and style every 3 or 4 days. Don’t touch it in between. Don’t own a hairbrush. Standard grey hair.

MetteBiddler · 21/10/2026 22:33

Mine's naturally very curly so it's a thorough spray down with water, a little product, and either diffuse or air dry - so anything from 10 to 20mins.
If it's a wash day (once a week, at the weekend) it'll be shampoo, conditioner, mousse and gel on soaking hair, curl forming with a brush and fingers, squeeze gently with a T-shirt, diffuse until totally dry. Scrunch out any existing crunch. Takes about 30 mins. Sounds like a lot of faff but have it down to a fine art now.

Long hair here! I actually think having long hair is actually a time saver in the morning!

I generally wash it in the shower at night and then blow dry it.

I would say any style in the morning for work takes no more than 10 minutes. I will generally wear it tied back in a pony tail for work, if not it's a messy bun with face framing strands or up in a french clip. Occasionally half up/half down. It all depends on my outfit and the weather!

It actually takes longer to wear it loose whether that's my natural wave or poker straight.

GarlicEverything · 21/10/2026 22:34

Gosh, you all sound so efficient! I recently got a Hairstyle, mainly because my hair's thinning and I can no longer get away with never doing anything to it. it was thick, wavy, bouncy and resilient. Now it's none of those things.

I think the cut was a mistake, though, as I've no styling skills and resent needing to use a dryer & straighteners. I bought straighteners that dry your hair - and they're brilliant, but still require a skill I've not mastered.

I'm beginning to see why older women used to get that perm 😖

15 mins just after shower Wash every second day. I will be honest- when people take seconds to do their hair you can always tell.

People can probably tell I don't spend loads of time styling my hair. That doesn't mean it looks bad though. I get loads of compliments on my hair, it's very long, thick, beach vibe with natural blonde highlights that look like I paid a fortune in the hairdresser's for. I like that look and for many of us, we like a natural carefree look. Why would I want people to think I spent ages doing my hair? What would I even do with it that would take so long? A complicated french plait? Plastering every stray hair to my head with gunk so I don't have a hair out of place if we get gale force winds? Not being funny, I just honestly don't know what on earth I would do to my hair that would take ages and make it look 'better'

Ponks · 21/10/2026 22:39

Morning - pony tail while I’m getting ready/ putting on makeup. Then brush. Usually then sigh and put back in ponytail with a swoosh of hairspray.
Wash & dry & straighten in the evenings as not enough time in the morning. But sometimes wake-up to manky hair anyway.

User451278 · 21/10/2026 22:39

Reading with interest.

My colour now costs me 200 pounds and I cannot afford to get it done every six weeks. I wash my hair every five days now to try to retain the colour for longer. My hair is dry and frizzy so the less its washed, the better for my scalp.

However I have never learned how to style it so its usually a bun or a ponytail (or that horrendous mix of the two).

Love the idea of a slick back but it would make my features look harsh. I've no idea how to curl it either.

TallagallaPenguin · 21/10/2026 22:44

Wash in the shower, adds maybe 5 mins to the shower time. Wrap in towel while I get dressed. Then spray on heat protector and dry it upside down with hair dryer. Takes about 2 minutes to dry.

I occasionally have spurts of trying to dry it more nicely in sections, or use babyliss big hair, taking up to an epic 5 minutes. Doesn’t make much difference (probably because I’ve got tolerance for faffing with my hair up to only about 5 mins).

And to the person who says you can tell if people don’t put time and effort in - I know, but also don’t really care! I’m not very good at hair styling and even if I dedicated 20 minutes to it I don’t think it would last or make any difference!

I disagree, this is not true for everyone, it completely depends on the hair type.

My morning routine takes seconds, but my prep is done the night before. I have curly hair, so I will wash it in the evenings ( not every night) put my curl products in which takes about 5 mins, and leave it it dry naturally. When I wake it, it is dry and curly and I don't need to do anything with it.
I can leave it down, or put it in a pony.

If i fancy a change and want to wear it straight , it takes about 15 mins to style.
