Your hair in the mornings?

What's your routine in the morning for your hair and how long does it take you?

I have very curly hair and always wake up looking like I’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards.
The only way to tame it is to wash it.
After my shower I comb the very ends with a wide wide-toothed comb, Then brush it all through with a tangle teezer brush.
Blob of morrocanoil curl creme through all the hair but not the roots. Scrunch the curls in my hands.
Then I take a tiny blob of morrocanoil finishing oil and run that through the curls.
Have breakfast and allow hair to dry naturally

livelovelough24 · 22/10/2026 00:01

I wash my hair almost every day and style it with a brush. Takes about 15 min.

SquirrelGG · 22/10/2026 00:05

I might run my fingers through it, otherwise nothing. I wash it once a week and let it air dry. The beauty of having short hair!

I disagree, this is not true for everyone, it completely depends on the hair type.

My morning routine takes seconds, but my prep is done the night before. I have curly hair, so I will wash it in the evenings ( not every night) put my curl products in which takes about 5 mins, and leave it it dry naturally. When I wake it, it is dry and curly and I don't need to do anything with it.
I can leave it down, or put it in a pony.

If i fancy a change and want to wear it straight , it takes about 15 mins to style.

What curl products do you use please?

Mybrowsaresisters · 22/10/2026 00:14

My hair looks horrendous when I wake up, proper bed head. I wash it and have to blow dry because it’s too frizzy if I don’t. If I want to look particularly smart I straighten it too, but very rarely, usually blast dry and then stick it up.

EntropicalFruit · 22/10/2026 05:15

Wash every morning in shower, brush, put in a towel while I dress. Tie up, go. Thin hat if it's under 15 degrees outside, wooly hat if it's under about 8. If it's minus temperatures outside, I will briefly dry with a hairdryer if I've time. When at home I just leave it to dry.
I've tried many times to style it in my youth and it never held anything or looked any different to how it naturally falls so I gave up.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 22/10/2026 06:32

For the last year I've had brand new hair (my post chemo hair!). It's really thick and wavy, nearly shoulder length now, with an annoying frizzy bit at the front. I wash it a couple of times during the week, but on my every day non-wash mornings I straighten the irritating frizzy bit, dampen the ends to encourage the waves, and that's it.

MammaTo · 22/10/2026 06:36

I have very long thick hair, I do like it to look nice but it is an absolute chore. I wash it about 3-4 times a week and blow dry it. Sometimes I’ll put heartless curlers in and then brush through of a morning with some hair oil, other times I go over it with a hot brush to smooth it out.

marriednotdead · 22/10/2026 06:53

Shoulder length fine curly hair with significant grey at front and a tendency to frizz. Sleep with it up in a satin scrunchie so just take it out, spray mist with water to reactivate products and pull into shape with fingers, couple of minutes.
Wash and comb out while conditioner is on in the shower every 2-3 days. Add curl cream, leave in conditioner spray and curl mousse, wrap in microfibre towel for 20 minutes. Usually leave to dry naturally unless really cold out in which case I use a hairdryer with a diffuser. Different results every time 🙄
Need to move to Egypt because my hair was amazing while I was on holiday there, I think it was the lack of humidity and softer water.

behindtheanimalhouse · 22/10/2026 07:08

wash very three or four days and blow dry. Straighten if in the office but if not just tie it back

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 22/10/2026 07:13

I get in the shower every day and wash my body and long hair. Then get out dry and dress and dry my hair. Takes 15 minutes max. But I have everything ready to go outfit wise. I prep the night before or I would dither.

SnackaJacq · 22/10/2026 07:15

God, I hate you all. My hair takes an age and it still looks terrible most days.

Wash every other day. Mornings I'm not washing it I have to spend 30 minutes anyway straightening as it will have gone mental overnight.

Unless you have a pixie cut how does drying your hair only take 2 minutes??

Think I'd choose nice hair over £1 million quid if given the choice.

ItalianChips · 22/10/2026 07:19

If I’m going into work I wave it with hair straighteners, takes about 30 minutes. At home I put it in a claw grip but have to style my fringe, takes about 10 mins.
I wash it 3/4 times a week.

Squirrelsnut · 22/10/2026 07:21

I brush it. 10 seconds.
I wash it every 2 or 3 days. Leave in conditioner oil, so literally a shampoo in the shower. Probably 2 minute max.
It's dead straight, fine and well-behaved.

IwanttoWFH · 22/10/2026 07:26

I wash my hair every third day. I always wash it in the evening and blow dry it smooth. I then curl it in the morning. I have a long bob, but my hair is so fine I’ve recently had some nano hair extensions put in. It takes about 10 mins to wash, 15 mins to blow dry. About 10 minutes to curl, possibly less.

mybeautifulemeraldparure · 22/10/2026 07:27

I'm another one with very straight hair, type 1a. Because it's straight it always looks shiny. I get a sharp blunt cut, wash it every day in the shower. No conditioner.
I put a comb through it and that's it. No products, no styling.
If only the rest of my life was so easy...

Gourdgirl · 22/10/2026 07:30

Wash every 3 days. Bit of product on ends. Never brush it

Smallestshadow · 22/10/2026 07:50

Wash it every other day- chin length, fine straight. Brush & dries naturally. Quick to wash & doesn’t need any styling. On the downside, it’s very fine and I’d love thick long hair!

What curl products do you use please?

I mainly use cantu products , you can get them from boots. I have one of the leave in curling creams and a revitaliser spray which is good for the 2nd or 3rd day. The main product that makes a difference for holding the curl is gel. I work the gel into my hair when it is wet and scrunch all over for a few mins and then I leave it. When I wake up, I scrunch it again so it doesn't feel crispy

Finding the right products for curly hair can be a pain, I have tried all sorts over the years, fancy, expensive products, tried the curly girl method ( disaster for me) but honestly , its the gel is what has made a difference!

Myblueclematis · 22/10/2026 08:20

Wash hair every other morning. If washed, blow dry then quick run through with the Revlon One Step which smooths and adds volume. Around 25 minutes in total.

On non-wash days, wash my fringe and blow dry with hairdryer and big round brush, then One Step through rest of hair. About 10 minutes in total.

Hair is graduated bob.

Kefkat3 · 22/10/2026 09:50

I wash my hair once - twice a week depending on time of the year, weather etc. in the hot weather it needs washing more often usually.

In the morning it is brush, part, straighten if needed, and put hair up (usually in a bun or/and with claw clip) if I fancy it, or if it is the day before hair washing.

Hair is long

Olderbutt · 22/10/2026 09:59

Brush and go.....naturally curly and shortish!

Namemechangey · 22/10/2026 10:12

Work from home days I just put it in a clip. That’s most days. And weekends too as inevitably ai am doing something where my hair is not needed to be styled like taking kids to football. But once a week I blow dry it straight. If I am going out out then I will spend an hour on it.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 22/10/2026 10:15

Very long thick hair that I wash twice a week. Usually I plait it at night, brush and part it in the morning. It has to go under a hairnet at work anyway.

BitOutOfPractice · 22/10/2026 10:35

I have a blow dry 2-3 times a week (I have a subscription at a blow dry bar) so I do very very little.
