Bra recommendations for F plus size cup

I've got big boobs that, following menopause, just got bigger. I've permanent grooves in my shoulders from the years of straps digging in.
I would like to find a bra with no wiring and soft sides and straps that actually hold the girls up.

There are lots of ads online for bras like this and I wondered if anyone could recommend please.

I will pay anything to be comfy and not look like I have a large pillow stuffed under my clothes... Thanks in advance

I'm a 34GG-H and have considerable experience in this area!

Definitely don't go for anything that's only advertised on social media. They don't offer the support you need, they're dropshipped from China, they're vastly overpriced and aren't properly sized. All right for sleeping in, but nothing else. They're just lycra crop tops really.

I would try Bravissimo in the first instance, and go for a proper fitting, because often people who get straps digging in like you describe are wearing the wrong size - the support in a bra should come from the band, not the straps, and most people are wearing a band size that's too big and a cup size that's too small.

M&S have various bras in their 'non-wired total support' range which are designed for bigger boobs. Those are probably the best non-wired ones I've found in terms of actually offering reasonable support. They're still not as supportive as a wired bra, and I personally only wear them at home, but they are at least proper bras and much better than all those shitty things you see advertised by random influencers on Instagram. Definitely try a few sizes though.

I would definitely recommend a fitting at Bravissimo. They will spend as long as needed to find you the correct fitting bra.

I can't buy online, without having to order four or five bras in the hopes of finding the one that fits 🙄 then having to return the others,. Depending on the style and the manufacturer, I can be 34 or 36 band, and H, HH or J cup

My favourite one, and the one I felt most confident in, is the Elomi "Morgan" bra, but that is wired. But so comfortable!

Rocknrollstar · 20/10/2026 11:23

If you can afford it go to Rigby and Peller - they used to fit the late Queen. I am 36E and really like Fantasie T-shirt bra from John Lewis. Tbh if I could afford it I would have had a breast reduction years ago!

RayonSunrise · 20/10/2026 17:35

Another Bravissimo vote here. I last went in a few months ago thinking I already knew my size (measured via Boob or Bust, was re-sizing due to weight loss) and the fitter brought me a different size to try that was immediately and obviously just right. I ended up walking out with an every day bra and a strapless bra, both comfortable and supportive.

ElsieJay · 20/10/2026 17:39

Echoing both the need for a professional fit, and @HurdyGurdy19 ‘s recommendation of the Elomi Morgan brand.

Also like the Freya Idol moulded ones- again, underwired, but extremely comfortable.

Owmyelbow · 20/10/2026 17:56

Im bigger than F cup, I always buy fantasie bras. A fitting at bravissimo is a good call though

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 20/10/2026 18:12

I’m an F/G.
I bought a brilliant soft bra in the tiny clothing section of a German supermarket - Rewe - in the summer. It is supportive without being too soft or too ribcrushing. It’s was €10! So if you happen to be going to Germany, checkout Rewe!

EnormousGinplease · 20/10/2026 19:01

Thank you all ... I should have been more concise. I've been to bravissimo several times and each time im measured with a band size that is way too tight. Like uncomfortably painful by halfway through the day. The last visit I bought 3 non wired and 1 wired. Only the wired made them look less droopy. It's such an expensive trial and error but I will Google your suggestions and thank you.

Me too ... the absolute luxury of smaller boobs and being able to run without trying to hold them in place. Or buying pretty underwear in a rainbow of colours.

It's fairly normal for them to be quite tight at first and then stretch.

I think Curvy Kate do the best non wired bras and bralettes.

I also wear the M&S good move sports bras a lot. They come in a pack of two, are non wired and really comfortable (I'm a 32H).
M&S Flexi fit non wired are also good and supportive.

ToadRage · 20/10/2026 19:09

I am a J cup.and swear by Bravissimo Satine. It is wired so not for you but if you visit a Bravissimo shop and chat to the assistants they should be able to find something for you. I have never had poor service in a Bravissimo and i have been to a few.

LaurieFairyCake · 20/10/2026 19:12

I hate asking this as I think I’d have punched someone if the face if they’d asked this when I had tits the size of watermelons but is weight loss an option 😬

<ducks>

I had giant breasts for over 40 years (36K) and now have teeny boobs due to weight loss. They were the LAST fat to go, the VERY last. I was wandering about looking like Kenny Everett for months before they finally gave up and acquiesced.
And I didn’t believe it until it happened (that they would ever go) so feel free to continue metaphorically punching me 😂

Unfortunately, to get the support you need, the band size will feel tighter than what you're used to. The first time I had a properly fitted bra, I thought it was incredibly uncomfortable and that it was too tight etc. But I persevered with it and now I don't notice it at all. And I also don't get the neck and shoulder pain that I used to get when I was wearing a bigger band size.

Iamnotavicar · 21/10/2026 00:01

I am large of nork (GG). It's well worth seeking out an independent bra shop and getting them to fit and supply you. If you are in the north there's a wonderful woman called Joy the Bra Lady in Howden (near Goole), she's so popular you have to book a fitting appointment

SchoolOfCool · 21/10/2026 07:05

You definitely need the firm enough band to stop the shoulder strap grooves. My current fave is panache envy. It's got a really deep back band which distributes the weight really well. At first I thought it was too tight so I wore it with a bra extender for about a week and it's now perfect without the extender. I can't feel it on, and I don't get back pain anymore.

Im laughing at your post ... yep probably a bit too fat as well. When I lose weight the boobs are the last to shrink. I weigh 69 kilos and should be around 62 maybe. But the fat is plumping up the wrinkles 😂

Ive found some local bra shops via Google. I'm taking all your suggestions and going shopping. There's a new M & S in Bath so I'll make an appointment there as well. Just need to get new glasses first so I can read the labels !

Yes to a bra extender! They were a godsend during pregnancy & breastfeeding x 2 when it felt like I changed size by the day..2" can be quite a lot to change in the band, so the ability to finetune it more is great. Also second stick with the tighter band, I wore 34" for years & years until a Boob or Bust measurement, went up cupsize & down to 32" and wouldn't go back. But all the sizes vary too between brands so try a lot of you can! I still haven't found any as comfy as my Freya nursing bras (underwired), so I still have the clips 5 years on 😂
Also giggling at large of Nork..🤣
Technically I could afford a reduction at some stage, but am still hopeful of some weight loss to reduce them a bit, has anyone investigated?

FiveEightNine · 21/10/2026 11:14

The fitting making the band too small - it is a common thing that it feels very tight at first. Still, if well fitted and correctly placed on you, smaller bands are the way how bigger boobs work the best, with the weight being supported by your torso, not your shoulders.
And, once you get the right size and putting on technique, than wired ones can be absolutely comfy as well.

Maybe give another try to the one you have.
It shouldn't be painful of course, adjust the fit on your body and you might want to start with a shortest band extender to get used to it.

Thatsanotherfinemess1 · 21/10/2026 11:20

If you're going to bath you could be measured at m and s and bravissimo. I bought the recommended bra in bravissimo and then some more in the same style on eBay (new) and brastop as they were much cheaper. I also used chatgpt to recommend other brands which would fit my shape after wasting money on expensive bras that just weren't right. It suggested a polish brand that I've been able to buy on brastop and they are great for my shape

agathamum24 · 21/10/2026 17:59

I’m 42gg and use the non-wired multiway bras from M&S, comfy enough and as long as you’re not running and jumping they absolutely have enough support.

TheTwerkingDuchessOfMonteshitshow · 21/10/2026 18:02

I’m a 36ff and get my bras at Bravissimo in Cardiff.

I wear the Elomi Matilda, the Fantasy Cecile and the Fantasy illusion.

TheTwerkingDuchessOfMonteshitshow · 21/10/2026 18:02

@Thatsanotherfinemess1 whats the name of the polish brand please.

Chaostheory12 · 21/10/2026 18:07

Watching with interest as I just can't wear underwired bras anymore and find non wired just make me look like a buttress and don't offer enough support.

EnormousGinplease · 21/10/2026 20:01

I love the 'support' here ... see what I did there 😏 😉
