Looking for comfortable party footwear to go with this dress- can anyone help?!

NormasArse · Today 11:29

I bought this dress on a whim and I really love it, despite it not being like anything I usually wear. It’s really soft and comfortable!

Now I need footwear to go with it. I have strange feet- fallen arches, and I’m not great with heels due to a knee issue, but could cope with a small one.

Can you help, oh wise ones?

This one. It’s sequinned, but lined in lovely soft fabric.

It looks better than that irl because I was wearing a crop top instead of a bra when I tried it on. Had to erase the background because DH was in it!

I woukd just go neutral shoes otherwise you risk looking like Dolly Parton . Unless you wish to emulate her

It was style more than colour I was asking about.

I realise it’s not to everyone’s taste, but it’s for a Christmas party, so I thought the sequins might fit. I’m not usually a wearer of dresses.

What about some flats from Flabelus? I find their Mary Janes great for being comfortable yet chic and you can get them in silk, velvet, even sequins…

I’d wear either nude, gold or bronze shoes.

They’re lovely, but I think they’re too flat- I need a slight heel raise. Thank you though!

Can you do a platform

HorseandHeron · Today 16:05

I'd go for something like these bronze platform sandals. The heel looks higher than it is, due to the platform. If you google bronze wedge or bronze platform party sandals, you will see lots of similar versions at all price ranges.

Or, go for white cowboys boots with tassels and a bit of bling. I wouldn't wear that dress with flats. You need to embrace your inner Dolly Parton, not try to tone her down.

I’d do something like this, but in the nude.

if budget is lower and you need a lower heel something like this would work.

You need to embrace your inner Dolly Parton, not try to tone her down

this is valid, if you’ve the chutzpah to wear a pink sequinned dress then fully embracing it maybe the way to go.

I tried to tone it down, but it could be the wrong way to go, as I’m not sure it can be toned down,

Is it just me who finds most of the Esska shoes ugly ?
They are so clumpy.
They are always recommended on Mumsnet, so are really popular.

NormasArse · Today 16:34

Funnily enough, I have some Esska sandals with a platform (not as high as that) with metallic pink in them. I’ve worn them once and fell over in them, which is why I’d rather go lower- for safety. Imagine Bambi as a newborn- that’s me in heels.

NormasArse · Today 16:35

I quite like the idea of these, but they’re too expensive for one night, sadly.

Nice on someone, but not me. I’m 60, with terrible balance!
