Travel wrap?

Palebluemouse · 11/10/2026 09:32

I’ve often read that a lightweight eg light cashmere wrap is a holiday travel essential. I am contemplating buying one but they are quite pricey - those of you who use them, are they worth it?

And if so - all recommendations welcome (I will likely have a search on eBay or Vinted first).

I tend to go on holiday to Europe including Canaries so not long haul.

Is it essential? You've been holidaying without one, have you actually felt the lack of one?

It might be 'essential' to someone else, yet not at all necessary to you.

You’re absolutely right of course! I tend to take a Fleece or a cardigan but am always open to trying something new if they work well for others.

I love mine. Rise & Fall, I have two (bright pink and Viridian). Nearly New Cashmere do good ones for less. Essential? Hardly. But lovely to travel with.

Use or get a wide normal scarf (you probably already have one) in a neutral colour. Much more use. Especially if the airport/plane/train is a bit draughty. Those pashmina a likes are flimsy and not very warm imo.

My friends bought me a Travel Wrap for a significant birthday, 8 years ago. For me, it is genuinely one of the lowest ‘cost per wear’ items I own. I use it as a scarf, a blanket, a wrap, take it to the chilly cinema, take it on long haul flights. Not saying it would be the same for you, not saying there aren’t cheaper alternatives- but for me, it has been well worth it.

Natural fabric ones are. Synthetic ones won’t be

Thank you - I would only be buying natural fibres especially cashmere or other pure wool.

Oh I love a wrap!!!
a pale grey cashmere is what I’m after

CharlotteStreetW1 · 12/10/2026 16:09

I've had a very lightweight one for years, it's ideal on flights but it's looking a bit shabby now so I've just ordered this in the hope it will replace it nicely. Was impressed at the price but it may be that you get what you pay for 😬

@Palebluemousethere is currently a lovely grey ‘White and Warren’ cashmere travel wrap on Vinted for £100 I have two of their wraps and they’re absolutely amazing. Brand new they’re usually about £270.

StoatMilk · 12/10/2026 21:25

@nzeiresee my post above

Vinvertebrate · 12/10/2026 21:27

I hate flying without mine. It’s a blanket, a pillow and I sploosh it with lovely perfume and wrap it round my face to detract from any unpleasant plane/people/toilet smells.

Nopayrise · 12/10/2026 21:28

Personally I’d go for something machine washable as I’d definitely want to wash it after being on a filthy plane etc…

No issues machine washing my cashmere one - wool wash and detergent, been washed countless times.

DancingNotDrowning · 12/10/2026 23:49

I also have a cashmere one from travel wrap.

Wouldn’t be without it. As per pp it’s used as a pillow, blanket, cushion, wrap and scarf. I take it to yoga/cinema/beach. At a pinch it’ll do an ok ish job as a towel or work in lieu of a dressing gown.

wash in the machine on a wool wash and it’s perfect

PeonyBulb · 13/10/2026 01:22

I’ve had a cashmere pashmina for 30 years but I don’t wear it much but DD loves using it to travel and pop in her bag in case it gets chilly. In fact she uses most of my larger scarves as wraps. I run hot these days so am more likely to use my neck fan and direct the plane air con towards me

Palebluemouse · 13/10/2026 06:52

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your comments each one very helpful ❤️

Knowing the names of some good brands is also really useful x

Arrived today. It's lovely! Folds small and is thin enough just to be a neck scarf as well as a wrap. It's sooooo soft. Very happy, can recommend 😊
