How much effort do you make with presentation if you sell clothes on vinted etc

I don't buy or sell large amounts on vinted & generally buy new with tags.
I recently bought a Maje tweed jacket & a sezane shirt both marked new without tags & was surprised at the geneal lack of care taken. The shirt was rolled up in a wrinkled ball & smelt strongly of perfume on the collar. Clearly had not been washed before posting

The jacket was likewise clearly worn.

I threw the shirt straight into the washing machine but the jacket can't be washed so i'll prob end up getting it dry cleaned

On the other hand i sold 2 blouses & i washed & ironed them, wrapped in tissue paper before packing so whoever opens them will get a clean, fresh, folded shirt

I can't imagine plucking a worn shirt from my wardrobe & rolling it to to shove it in an envelope!

I'm fascinated by the different experiences of vinted

Stuff seems on average to be super cheap on UK site?

EU vinted has tons of high end brands & things sell for high prices

Actually - now i'm wondering if this is purely determined by the algorithm you generate by the brands you're searching / buying from?

As an example, how much would a Sezane blouse be listed for on UK site?

They are snapped up for anywhere from €45 - €100 on the EU site.

I send washed, ironed clothes in decent packaging.

I’m now very selective about who I buy from on Vinted. I actually buy very little as I’ve been disappointed too many times. Some people really do take the piss! I definitely steer clear of the £1 sellers as it’s clearly not going to be great is it?

I always wash items before shipping. I don’t iron… think that’s unnecessary. I’m not a boutique. I do wrap in tissue paper and mailing mag.

@WrongWomen if I search for Sezane blouses in my size, there are 5 pages of results and the prices range from £12 to £160, with most being at the more expensive end of that range. No idea if they sell at those prices though!

I wash and iron and put in plastic mail bags to send. if I have sold for over £50 I wrap in tissue if I have any to hand but don't buy new. I save all tissue. ribbon, decent packaging items that I get from shops or online stores and use any of that to make sure items reach buyer in best possible condition.

I always wash and iron and fold nicely.

With the perfume you could try rubbing washing up liquid into the neck as this will dissolve the oils.

I sell loads of stuff for £1-4
it’s decent stuff like adidas or sweaty Betty sweatpants in good condition (worn but no stains, damage etc)
they’re just not the right size for me since I had a baby, and I’d rather clear it out of my house and get a small bit of cash, than take it to the charity shops around here that are saying they’re too full for new stuff anyway. People still haggle though and lots of stuff still doesn’t sell. Maybe I’m putting people off by being so cheap.

Nah I sell mainly DD old stuff for a pound or two I am not wrapping and ceiling and ironing I used whatever packaging I've got on hand I did buy some new bags from home bargains 8 for 79p when I started as I used to throw packaging away and was struggling to find appropriate.

I sell a lot for a few pounds too, if it’s DDs things she’s grown out of, I don’t think you’d get more for them and I let her have the balance to spend back on Vinted. I always wrap in tissue or bubble wrap (recycled from received packages) but send in new plastic post bags which are pennies on Amazon. I send as I like to receive and I think all shopping should be a nice experience. I buy a fair bit and it taints my excitement at a new purchase if it’s in a cereal box. Mind you I was once slated on here for saying I expect an expensive shop purchase to be wrapped in tissue paper so it takes all sorts 😂

Oh no - that's my worry with the perfume on the blouse i bought 😕

The only thing I didn't try because I lost patience was steaming the coat - might work for you?

Floisme · Today 08:02

White vinegar might get rid of the perfume smell. I’ve only used it for mildew smells but Google says it should work for perfume too .
