Could this Vinted Rixo Kelly skirt have the wrong fabric label?

Hi all,

So I ordered the Kelly skirt from Rixo a few weeks ago but then managed to find one new on Vinted so purchased.

It's just arrived and as soon as I felt it, I realised the material doesn't feel as soft as the original and more scratchy. I checked the label and it says 70% viscose and 30% silk. I've checked on the Rixo website and the skirt is listed as being 100% silk. Is there any chance the shop has listed it incorrectly? Or any reasonable explanation?

I don't really know exactly what the label is supposed to look like. I could order an original to compare but it'll probably take too long to arrive.

Ah ok, thank you. I've run it through ai and it's said some older versions may have this material composition. However I don't want this version and hate acrylic. Her listing said it's silk and nothing about acrylic and when I made an offer she said she wanted more because it's silk... Fair enough it has silk in it but it's misleading to list is as silk when it is 70% a different material.

If it's acrylic and not the viscose/silk mix then maybe it isn't a genuine Rixo? Was it more than £85, with the option for Item Verification?

If the listing only said silk, and it's majority viscose/acrylic then maybe you have a case for significantly not as described. Assuming that there was no image on the listing of the label showing material composition.

I can't see your photo of the label - only a photo of the skirt.

But to clarify, acrylic fabrics are made from a synthetic plastic polymer which is derived from fossil fuels like petroleum or coal.

Viscose is a semi-synthetic fibre made from natural plant cellulose extracted from wood pulp.

So on the Vinted listing the material is listed as silk and nothing else. Plus when I made an offer she said it was too low as the skirt is current season and silk. She posted a photo of the label but only the label that says Rixo. The materials are listed on the other side and there was no photo. I don't want to be awkward but I don't want it and wouldn't have purchase of I'd known it was 70% acrylic. I wanted the current season full silk as it was much softer.

Anyway, you could ask for a return because it's significantly not as described. Presumably you have not pressed the "Everything is OK" button?

I haven't pressed anything yet! I do feel bad but I don't want it. I think she deliberately misled me.

I think there is an element of buyer beware here, I spend most of my time on Vinted asking to see the label with the materials on there as so much is listed as silk/wool when it’s 0% silk/wool. I think you can only list one material, and it is silk blend so I don’t think it’s wildly out of touch to have called it silk

how much was it on Vinted? Is it worth sending it back?

Maybe lesson learned but I do feel she misled me. Ultimately if you list one material (and you don't have to list a material at all) you surely list the main material. Also, you have the opportunity to then state in the listing that it's not fully silk. Furthermore, she said it was current season; the current season is a 100% silk version.

However, I appreciate o should have asked. I use Vinted to sell a lot but very rarely buy.

It was £75. I would ideally want my money back and buy the current version.

I would file a not as described claim on vinted. At the end of the day she listed it as silk. It’s not just silk. It’s not as described.

Most likely you’ll have to return it at your own cost but you’ll get the item value back once it’s arrived

It drives me batty when Vinted sellers bother to take a photo of the label showing the brand name, but don’t also include a photo of the label showing the material composition or the size. I mean, why bother?!

You can choose up to 3 materials on Vinted so there was no legitimate reason for her to only list it as silk.
I would report it as significantly different than described.

I won't buy anything without a photo of the materials label. It does always amaze me how people don't bother to include that nor fill out the materials on the actual listing. Even though it says "Recommended" when you set the listing up! I often filter by material and if people haven't added it then I won't see it. Surely to sell your items you'd put as much info as possible. It only takes a moment to do so. You can add more than one material too.

I'm currently selling a dress that is viscose and linen mix - there is no way I'd list it as just linen when it's 49% viscose.
