Could this Vinted Rixo Kelly skirt have the wrong fabric label?

Hi all,

So I ordered the Kelly skirt from Rixo a few weeks ago but then managed to find one new on Vinted so purchased.

It's just arrived and as soon as I felt it, I realised the material doesn't feel as soft as the original and more scratchy. I checked the label and it says 70% viscose and 30% silk. I've checked on the Rixo website and the skirt is listed as being 100% silk. Is there any chance the shop has listed it incorrectly? Or any reasonable explanation?

I don't really know exactly what the label is supposed to look like. I could order an original to compare but it'll probably take too long to arrive.

Attached a photo of the skirt and the label.

Viscose is only man made silk in the same way as pvc is man made leather. I have plenty of viscose dresses, some very expensive but it is different to silk and you care for it differently.

That description is misleading. It is significantly not as described.

Worriedone12 · 24/09/2026 12:33

Thank you! I'm glad people agree with me. Obviously as I've tried on the current version I knew it felt different and also knew that the other is 100% silk. She's marketing this item as current season (it is not because the viscose/silk version) and only listing the material as silk. Annoying as it's a faff. I'll just order it full price from th website.

I hardly ever make purchases on Vinted and always have issues when I do!

I suspect she’s confused rather than deliberately misleading. Hence her comment on the viscose, she thinks it is current season, it likely isn’t her item but one she’s selling on,

Obeseandashamed · 24/09/2026 12:39

Send it back! The likelihood is she was being lazy and used google to find how much it cost her before listing it. Vinted should side with you. 🤞🏽

Mulledjuice · 24/09/2026 12:40

just press "i have an issue" and "not as described". listing said silk and current season (which is 100% silk). Actual product + label only 30% silk.

I'm returning. I've had to pay.
This was her reply...

Man made silk 🤔

Listed as silk when the tag says otherwise...

She should be covering the postage cost.

I do get bit irritated seeing some buyers expectating for do returns when the items doesn't fit or along those lines. But in your case this is absolutely valid. This skirt is not 100% silk as she has claimed.

I would video you packing up the skirt again. Including showing the tag as she might claim it was swapped or some such nonsense.

Worriedone12 · 24/09/2026 13:55

Anyway, I've packaged it up to return. It is a shame I pay postage and lose the original amount I paid for postage but I can't do much about it.
I've now ordered the skirt from a proper website.

I feel for you OP. I'm constantly seeing items listed as 'silk' on Vinted when they're clearly not. I always ask to see the composition label now before I buy. Or more often than not if they can't be bothered to add the label I just scroll on past.

BinkyBuntyFintyCunty · 26/09/2026 07:02

People on Vinted seem to think that any ‘silky’ fabric is silk. I’ve seen 100% polyester items which get listed as silk. It’s very annoying.

Yes, I've noticed this. I'm always on the look out for nice silk tops and I've noticed lots of polyester and viscose being described as silk. Do the sellers not realise that silk is a specific fabric?

WhereAreWeNow · 26/09/2026 07:18

I think you're within your rights to say it's not as described and you wouldn't have bought it if you'd known that it was acrylic.

IzzyLeng · 26/09/2026 07:29

Man made silk is up there with vegan leather!

bakerstreetvibes · 26/09/2026 11:15

I honestly think you’ve taken this far too personally. She wasn’t intentionally trying to deceive you or anything of the like.

Most people in day to day life don’t really care about the fabric composition. She probably just didn’t really know the difference

ElizaSchuyler · 26/09/2026 12:45

On the opposite side people don’t realise that satin is a type of weave, not a fabric

Well if you don’t know the difference you lost the composition listed on the label.

doing anything else is misleading.

Ah ok, thank you. I've run it through ai and it's said some older versions may have this material composition. However I don't want this version and hate acrylic. Her listing said it's silk and nothing about acrylic and when I made an offer she said she wanted more because it's silk... Fair enough it has silk in it but it's misleading to list is as silk when it is 70% a different material.

Acrylic isn’t the same as viscose. Acrylic is essentially plastic, viscose is made from wood.
