Anthropologie Website

Had a peak at the lovely Anthropologie website (as I read that they now deliver to the UK from the States - yey!) and saw a lovely bag on there I was tempted to buy - but when shipping and taxes were added the cost rose from 45 pounds to a whooping 72.81 pounds!

Seems a lot to me - tho never ordered anything from the US before - anyone had a similar experience with other websites in terms of postage costs?

Now trying to decide if the bag is really worth the extra cost.........tho know if I try hard enough, I can always end up justifying a bag-related splurge!

bags are always worth it . when you buy things online in the uk there is already 17.5% vat included in the price, so the added tax is probably roughly equivalent. does that help ?

Ooooo good point Hoxtonchick - thank you! Makes me feel a lot better - now where is DHs creditcard????!!!!

OllieWollieWoo · 29/06/2008 21:30

Here - been after a cream with leather trim one for ages. The stripey bow thingy is growing on me - not sure if its bit too girley/twee tho! There are some lovely ones on there tho if you are looking for something a bit different!

v nice indeed, very chic. you know you had the price in euros? so it's cheaper than you thought....

hoxtonchick · 29/06/2008 21:33

oh, maybe not actually....

Bundle · 29/06/2008 21:38

I think it looks pricey

hoxty knows her bags

OllieWollieWoo · 29/06/2008 21:39

Thats what I was trying to work out - I don't live in the UK so was seeing if it was worth getting it delivered here or to my sisters in the UK! (Made the mistake of asking DH re exchange rates and I'm still none the wiser - flippin bankers, can never give you a straight yes or no but 5 mins of economic jargon filled waffle!)

Stargazing · 29/06/2008 21:47

OllieWollieWoo · 29/06/2008 21:50

Wow - those shoes are fab!

Stargazing · 29/06/2008 21:51

reckon we should get your bag and my shoes shipped together and split the cost? would that work out cheaper??

ManhattanMama · 29/06/2008 21:56

I LOVE Anthropologie - am happy to send stuff on to the UK if people want to get it shipped to my address in the US without the taxes etc being an issue.

hoxtonchick · 29/06/2008 21:57

i have just filled my basket up with gorgeous dresses

ManhattanMama · 29/06/2008 22:01

Sure - as long as it all fits in a rucksack so I can carry it to the post office next to my work!

OllieWollieWoo · 29/06/2008 22:13

How weird - just gone back to my shopping basket to check the whole euros v pounds thing and my bag has gone but its now filled with your lovely dresses Hoxtonchick!!!!! Not to worry tho [smile}

Just asked DH again re the exchange rate issue and he has ended up doing an excel spreadsheet - I kid you not!

Turns out I save a grand total of 2 pounds so thanks for the offer Stargazing but think I'll get the stuff sent here rather than to the UK.

MM - that is such a lovely offer. I may just take you up on it!
