Please help.

No idea on a jacket but gosh, that dress is gorgeous!

It’s a beautiful dress! Where’s it from? Bravo OP. I’d struggle to cover it up with anything tbh, but I always like a tippet.

What time of year?

Lovely dress.

Sorry to disagree with PP but I don’t think that green blazer would look at all right with it.

A sage green faux fur could be nice if winter. Otherwise I might be tempted to just wear a leather jacket and take it off for pics.

Hmmm, I'm thinking a bolero/shrug either faux fur or other fabric depending on time of year. To reach the waist band of the dress in length.

I'm just musing though.

The sleeves look as though they’d need roomy jacket sleeves - you don’t want them to bunch up and crease. I like the suggestion of a tippet/cape - I think that would look more wedding-appropriate

This is lovely in real life- a pity it only comes in one colour

is the ceremony and the reception in the same place? If so then I wouldn’t bother with a jacket. I’m bracing it for a wedding beginningof Nov. All of the wedding is happening in the same place and we are staying over in the grounds of the reception too.

if they are in different place I’d go for a cropped black blazer.

what colour of shoes and bag are you wearing?

JaneJeffer · 08/09/2026 21:25

I wouldn’t cover it up

i wouldn’t go for black - it would absolutely kill that gorgeous green. And a blazer is not the right style for such a feminine floaty dress, it would spoil it. IMHO!

Some kind of cape, probably faux fur , would be perfect

£25... ebay

Enterthewolves · 08/09/2026 22:51

Thank you for all the great ideas. I love the idea of a cape, but am not sure I could pull that off. Ceremony and celebration are in two different places so will definitely need something.

I've got this dress and wear it with a yellow cardigan (and yellow trainers)

minipie · 08/09/2026 22:58

this could work if you need proper warmth

LemonTT · 09/09/2026 00:14

There are a couple of jackets in whistles that might work.

I think you will have problems with the sleeve and any jacket type. Depending on how deep in autumn - winter maybe a dressy coat is the answer and keep a wrap to hand.

This is a gorgeous dress. You need something light and luxurious to go with it - I’d go for a feathe jacket. Or a faux fur one for a winter wedding but a fluffy one with long hair - nothing heavy looking.

Shortish cropped swing jacket with wide 3/4 length sleeves... cream, dark purple, dark green, brown, beige or fake dark fur. The vibe would be 1920s.
