Mini facelift at 47 or are there worthwhile non-surgical alternatives

I'm hugely unhappy with the loose skin and jowls on my neck and lower face and I'm thinking about having a mini facelift. But if there are any non-surgical options that would be cheaper and have shorter recovery times, I'm open to suggestions. Honest opinions, am I a good facelift candidate? I'm 47 and I can't imagine the situation improving by itself.

I think if you smiled it would change your whole face.

Possibly, but this is my face when I just have a neutral expression. I can't go around grinning the whole time!

Not that there is anything wrong with your face, but I’d look into fillers first before a face lift. With a good injector fillers can have the effect of a mini facelift.

I don’t think there is anything on the market that can help jowls and loose skin without surgical intervention. I was always very anti face lift, but having seen some of them they look amazing and natural. Conversely I think I’m probably too vain to go through the recovery process with people knowing I’ve had one!!

I follow No Filter Clinic (doctor owned and very reputable) and endo lift looks like something to consider? I haven’t had the procedure but here’s some results

Botox in the DAO muscle might be worth trying first.

I worry about that a bit too, but I'd take annual leave and then work from home with my camera off on Teams calls for a bit. I live alone so I'd probably get away with it, and most people would be too polite to say anything even if they did notice!

It would be at the Coppergate Clinic in York if I did go for it. That's hear where I live and it has a very good reputation.

I’m not sure what you by ‘mini facelift’ - is it just a lower facelift? I’m early 40’s, and will be getting one in the next 5- 10 years, but I’ll probably go for a proper full facelift, because why not if you’re going through the stress and cost and recovery anyway.

Sadly the non surgical stuff seems to be very underwhelming, I mean it probably does something, but for the cost and the minimal results I think they are rarely worth it.

@Nihongo yes, just a lower facelift, maybe the neck as well. I don't think my upper face is as bad yet.

I just looked up a mini facelift, perhaps it’s what you’d be happy with.

As per PPs, look into fillers and Botox. Cheek and temple fillers can lift the face, and Botox in the DAO area and platysmal bands can stop the lower face muscles from pulling your face down.

I was away on holiday recently and someone asked me if I was retired! Definitely going to pursue this now. I have a consultation next month and will see what they suggest in terms of surgery/other options. I'm also colouring my greys...

To be honest OP, sometimes people just say things without thinking, more to make conversation than anything.

It doesn’t necassarily mean they think you look 65+. You definitely don’t.

I've had a consultation for this and was told by the surgeon that the term 'mini facelift' is just marketing hype. There's no mini way to do it really and its quite major. Im not saying dont do it but be prepared!

I had 1ml filler in each cheekbone area and it made so much difference. I’d lost a lot of weight and it really sorted out the jowels, the hollowing and the undereye darkness. Am envisaging doing this annually.
Am the same age as you and have been using elevate collagen and skin&me tretinoin too.

I think if you’re thinking about it already a facelift will be inevitable. Coppergate clinic has very good reviews and I would go to them for a facelift if I could afford it!

The problem with having just one area 'fixed' is that it makes adjacent areas look worse! I had upper blepharoplasty earlier this year as my upper lids were overhanging my lashes and making me look and feel tired... my eyes look better... but now other bits of my face look 'old' in comparison.

I think once you start looking closely at your own face you see all kinds of flaws noone else ever notices. Hardly anyone has noticed I had my eyes done despite me feeling like it was such a huge 'flaw' that it must be the first thing people saw when they looked at me!

Of course she doesn't need it. But she wants it, and that's OK.

There is no such thing as a mini facelift per se. It’s one of those terms (like Baby Botox) that the industry uses to make certain things more palatable. Some people obviously get more done due to age / facial anatomy but you can’t just do half a face.

Start with cheek fillers, then consider Sculpta in the sides of the face and jaw. Sculptra requires a course of treatments and takes a while to show results but cheek fillers are instant. I used to have deep nasolabial and marionette lines, but these disappeared several years ago. I’m now 64.
