What do you think of Clinique make up?

What do we think of clinique? I need some make up that is fragrance free, I need a new mascara that is not one of those ones that cause panda eyes and I need some new lipstick. Any other recommendations welcome, thank you.

It’s owned by Estée Lauder which is owned by Ronald Lauder who is a massive Trump donor, and the person who proposed buying Greenland.

rubyslippers · 19/08/2026 18:02

Not used Clinique for years - was my go to brand as a teen and then into my twenties

if you want a mascara that won’t give panda eyes you need a tubing mascara - elf do a great one, maybelline sky high and hourglass too

I would go to space nk and have a look at some of their brands

ShhhYouDontKnowMe · 19/08/2026 18:09

Second elf tubing mascara, excellent stuff

I was going to write that! So many companies have gone on my shitlist because of that… Bobby Brown, Aveda too… An absolutely terrible person

Following with interest as I'm considering a Shiseido foundation. Are they on the iffy list? 😬

JudyTeeny · 19/08/2026 18:16

I used to use it but you can now get cheaper equivalents especially at M&S. For mascara, you need a tubing mascara, Elf is really good.

I second Hourglass mascara 👏🏻

Thanks actually going to M&S later.

Wow had no idea of any of this.

I had no idea of this either. I can’t have Clinique as it makes my skin breakout but I love my Estée Lauder moisturiser. Will have to look for an alternative.

Omg, I had no idea. I’ve used Clinique foundation for years. That’s that off the list. If anyone can recommend an alternative that doesn’t finance assholes lemme know.

ExplodingSmittens · 19/08/2026 18:57

I’ve found a list of companies owned by Roland Lauder if anyone wants to take a look.

BitCoinBillionaire · 19/08/2026 19:10

Oh god … is it you?!!! 😂 We will know for sure if you start asking about no7

MyDriver · 19/08/2026 19:46

Do you think not buying make up from those brands will make the slightest bit of difference?

You could apply that way of thinking to almost all consumer products and none of us would buy anything.

I don't like Clinique mascara- it flakes badly and doesn't build much volume or length.
Loreal Panorama is nice and half the price.

GameOfJones · 19/08/2026 19:49

Another vote for Elf tubing mascara. It works much better than my higher-end ones I previously bought.

It might not make any difference but if going to spend my money I’d rather not support regimes that may be detrimental to me and my family.

I like some of Clinique’s skincare products but their makeup is hit and miss for me, some of it doesn’t suit my skin at all. I don’t think it’s a good brand if you have sensitive skin, also not worth the price.
Boots No 7 is similar quality for cheaper, and never had a reaction to anything

HughManity · 19/08/2026 23:29

Looks nice but isn't.

Sparrowsandbudgies · 19/08/2026 23:31

I spent 15 years working for Clinique. We used to get 65% discount and we still used to buy the cheap dupes instead. So that says a lot. Some of it’s okay, the foundations and moisturisers are good. It’s very overpriced though.

I’ve got one No7 lipstick and I’ve not noticed it being perfumed or having a strong taste.

I really like the blushers, these ones in the round pot, the peach one is such a great colour
Also like the Cubby Stick lip balm in Mighty Mimosa
