Is H&M now stopping customers ordering two sizes to compare?

Has anyone tried to order more than 1 size from H&M recently? I want a pair of trousers, but the measurements make me either 12 or 14. I tried to add both to the bag, but after giving me a message about the environmental cost of returns, it keeps chucking out the other pair! Wtf?

Some consumer law tips (from a lawyer!): if you order an item and it feels much bigger / smaller / shorter etc than expected, measure it against the online size information. If the measurements are wrong, they should accept a return at no cost to you, as per your legal rights. Also, (regardless of whether you are returning because of incorrect sizing) make sure you get refunded for the original shipping cost if you requested a return within the first 14 days and you are returning your entire order. A lot of retailers conveniently "forget" to refund this.

H&M was great around the millennium. I still wear a £40 trench from 2001.

H&M is crap now. My 17yr old isn't keen either. The tailored stuff is cheap looking and the youth range is so dull.

We are exactly the same size! 10-16 and 7-8. I’m in a size 14 jeans at the moment which are far too big (Next). I changed into them for housework as the size 16 (Next) ones I was wearing were too tight.
The store have the measurement guides you can click on so I actually measured myself for first time in years. Uniqlo. According to that I’m an XL. I recently got rid of my Uniqlo XL stuff as I was swimming in it and even their L is too big.
Amd apparently I need a 34 F bra. Tried one and it was like a vice around my ribcage.

In H&M and ASOS I have been size 12, 14, 16 & 18! 🫣

I'm also shoe size 7-8 and it seems to be the size that's particularly hard to get right as some shops call 40 a 7, some 41 a 7 and 8 which should be 42 is sometimes 41

Is there not a store you can just go to and try them on? Sounds a lot less effort and cheaper

Typically not, as the shops have limited stock and either don’t have the items, or if they do, not in the right sizes.

Whereas I'm 30ff in bras! To be fair, bras tend to generally be the only things that are fairly consistent.

This is what I have been doing @FeelingOldOldOld - I do order a few things to try each time as the store never has my size in stock and if I’m going all the way to the store, I want to make it worth my while and try a few of their new bits

so to get a “warning letter” feels a bit off - I’m only keeping the stuff I like, as me why I’m returning each item and I’d be happy to tell you. Don’t try to guilt me with percentages! Or I’ll just go elsewhere

Yes it does this. You have to select keep all sizes or something.
They should sort out their sizing! It’s so off. A medium dress is different across their entire store.

Slightly off track. I visited my local Asda outlet store and it had a sale on. Great I thought. Grabbed some clothes and asked where changing room was. Was told it was closed off as it's policy to close it off when a sale is on! So they want to shift a load of clothing but you can't try anything on. I dumped my stuff and left. Bonkers!

That's just crazy. Do they actually want us to buy their stuff?!

You've been in my head. This is what I think every time Im shopping.

I'm a 6 a lot of brands don't even make it they start at 7 so my shoes are always slightly loose 😂

I ordered two different jackets from H&M in the same size recently, had to return both and re-order one in in the size down and the other in the size up.

It cost me £2.95 for the return and another £2.95 for the re-order.

I took the risk of ordering one size because if they both fit I wouldn't have the hassle of returns but that risk cost me money!

It’s such an irritating development. It’s also been poorly implemented because when I try to buy two of the same item for DDs, I get the snarky pop up even though I’m buying 12-18m and 4-5 (or 4-6 which is a stupid age range for children’s clothing). I think it makes more sense if the sizes are at least adjacent (but still irritating!).

I just can’t be arsed any longer and just don’t buy many new clothes. They make it so hard.

How ridiculous. They cut down the number of stores and drastically redice the amount of stock in them so it's impossible for a lot of people to physically try things on and then they try to limit what you can select online?

I’ve literally never seen a brand only start at shoe size 7.
I’ve been a 3 my entire adult life and even than is fairly standard to come by.

I can only assume the poster is talking a US women's size 7 (4.5 ISH in UK sizing) because is would make no sense otherwise.

If you’re over a size 20, you have to order online as no high street shops tend to keep any bigger sizes in store. So you essentially pay to try something on.

Except the problem with department stores, even well-stocked ones, is that you have to visit every concession to find what you want - and within each concession there will be, say, several pairs of black trousers, all spread around within their different clothing ranges. My favourite shop is Uniqlo precisely because they display items by category: you can be confident you’ve seen all the shirts/t-shirts/jeans/whatever. But a personal shopper bringing everything you plan to try on directly to a changing room would be amazing!

At only 5ft I’ve had to buy clothes online for years as most stores don’t stock their petite ranges or have a token few items. However, petite lengths have weirdly been getting longer and longer over the years which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, if you’re under 5ft 3 then why would your leg length suddenly increase. I agree with all the comments, these retailers have saved a fortune by cutting physical stores and staff, it’s totally unreasonable to then complain when people need to try on several sizes to get the correct fit.

They also do online sales but if you come to the warehouse you of course take it away and there is no delivery charge. Like a shop but much bigger. Hardly any shop front, just all stock.
