Help finding me a watch for my wedding day!

Help! I’m looking for a watch to wear for me wedding. I’d like a silver one, small round face, bracelet style strap. Nothing extravagant or expensive particularly but if I fall
in love with a more expensive one that’s ok too! I’ve seen a couple on Next but I’m not so keen on the bracelets which look a bit chain-link style. If it had a mother of pearl face that would be the icing on the cake, but not essential. I’m going round in circles and I’m sure there are many corners of the internet I haven’t discovered that may hold my perfect timepiece! All suggestions gratefully received.

I wore my Gran' s gold watch on my wedding day as my "something borrowed". Just wondering if you could do something similar.

Agree. I borrowed a tiny old gold watch from my mother on my wedding day.

I don't trust other people to make sure I get to places and take my meds on time. I also can't not have a timepiece of some kind, I have to be able to check the time, to the point of anxiety attacks.

Even without all that, it's OK and not at all unclassy to wear a pretty and dressy watch anyway. Just don't turn up with one of those black plastic Casios...

To answer some questions - I need a watch because I’m autistic and need to know the time! I don’t trust clocks and don’t want to be looking at my phone. My aim for my wedding day is to look like me -
and that includes a watch but I don’t want to wear my old fossil watch (brown leather, won’t go!) and def not a smart watch. I’m so grateful for posters who have taught me what I’m after is a cocktail watch! Thank you.

There are so many gorgeous watches here you’ve linked to, I’ve been looking at them for ages and I’m sure it’ll take me a lot longer to go through them all! So far I love the Citizen eco drive one in silver. Am I right in thinking the face is about the size of a pound coin? That would be perfect. But there are so many lovely ones - it’s hard to gauge size from pictures though.

If you want something less expensive than the Citizen watch then take a look at Lorus watches. They have several in the sort of style you're looking for with pound coin-sized cases.

@waltzingparrot I actually tried this Vivienne Westwood watch as I thought it looked perfect. I loved it - it was nice and heavy but just a bit big and chunky looking for my wedding. I also wasn’t keen on the orb, although I know it’s the point of the design it looked a bit too bold for the day!

My friend inherited a gorgeous vintage omega diamond cocktail watch from her DM.
The face is about a pound coin size. I can’t see the same bit doing this but would need a new strap probably.

I completely understand wearing a watch, it's an opportunity to wear a pretty one and then you have it forever to wear again.

Ordinarily I’d agree. I would not buy a watch from a fashion brand but the Armani one isn’t too expensive & if you class it as a piece of jewellery rather than good watchmaking then it’s justifiable.

I do like the Citizen one though and have the gold version.

I've got a citizens eco drive watch and I really don't think you'd regret buying one of those. I got mine 15 years ago for my 30th birthday and it's still in great condition and really beautifully made. It's a bonus that they are solar powered and you never need to replace the battery!

I bought a Gucci watch in 1990 and it's still going strong. I also have a vintage wind up one from the 1950s which has been repaired once. I think the older ones are reliable.

I love the "clean lines with crystal" it's very elegant. I think I might treat myself 😍

I did have to replace mine. The Ecodrive failed (stopped charging) and the cost to repair it was almost the same as a brand new watch.

I get most of mine from charity shops as I can get beautiful watches for just a few quid. Mine are usually a good standard and they are often a little more unique as it isn't from a company that is selling identical watches.

Just need to add that eBay is worthwhile for looking for beautiful watches as I saw that others have suggested that as well.
