Pronunciation of Asics

How do you pronounce Asics.... long or short a?

I go back and forth. They are my go to for trainers

From my understanding it’s “ass-icks”

Ay-sics because I’ve never heard it pronounced any other way. But I spent years saying Nike wrong and don’t get me started on Huawei (I thought it was pronounced like Hawaii 🤷‍♀️)

In the Asics store, both pronunciations seem to be used.

Ay-siks, because I used to think it meant A6, I now know it's an acronym, but there is an original Japanese pronunciation.

Short a was always used by friends who worked there!

So either/or it seems!

Oh interesting, I thought it was ay-sics because it was ‘Basics’ without the B. Didn’t consider other options!

hwah way but people struggle with the quiet hw sound. So wah-way is basically how they say it in most English speaking countries.

I always said “ace-six” but no idea if that’s right or not!

Nike was pronounced like Mike until relatively recently. Same with Adidas being
Addy das until it was Add dee das

I used to say Ay six, but I think it’s actually ass icks…

Nike was always pronounced like the Greek god.

Adidas is still Adi-Das, its the founder’s name.

I'd say ass-icks

Growing up Nike always rhymed with Mike
Adidas was and still is in mucb of Scotland, a-DEED-ass

This is how I say it.
Although I did think they were called
Oh-ay-sicks like oasis because I thought the curly O design was the letter O so Oasics

Used to say Ay-sicks, now say Ass-Icks.

ive always said Nike-ee but everyone I know say Nike to rhyme with Mike
