So IG has been hitting me over the head with this shop like crazy and I do love a shirt. Does anyone have any experience with this brand? Is it good or just fabulous marketing.

I have a few, classic and boyfriend cut, plain and striped. And recently took ownership of another in white silk 🥰. All lovely, good quality but not full price lovely (at least for me!) . All of mine are Vinted too. Not laundered any yet though, so can’t talk to that- that is where the quality and repurchase test sits for me!!

For local UK manufactured shirts- and anything else really, can I suggest you check out Community Clothing? The Esme shirt is incredible, beautiful cut amazing quality and the material used is sooooo good. I prefer to WNU. Also recommend cotton vests, ALL their jeans 😚🥰 , wool jumpers and cotton sweatshirts. Oh, and socks 😁. I often get asked where I got my Esme from when I wear it!

edit- just to add and nb they run to ‘true’ size vs vanity sizing in high street, so suggest size up!

The Community Clothing one is more expensive and IMO not as good a style.

That is a lovely dress!

But being totally transparent? Esme (vs WNU) is better made and the cotton is 1000% better imo. Though I love my WNU white silk shirt 😁. And depending on what WNU you go for, the Esme is lower cost than its equivalents.

I also like the CC ethos- great designed, well made British high quality clothing, ensuring we retain skills and manufacturing and provide training and jobs for young people. So lots more reasons to buy from them than other providers.

I have a shirt dress similar to Lorelle, and a pair of wide culottes in 100% linen (linen is grown locally- how amazing is that?!) and the linen quality is just extraordinary. Love love love ❤️

I bought the seersucker short set; I had to size down for the shirt and size up for the shorts for the insouciant look. Pretty comfy on, wildly unflattering when I caught sight of self when out, it looks a bit, trying too hard. I also had to wear a vest top under the shirt as wearing it loose didn't look right.

I mean I’ve got 82 insta followers and I haven’t even posted there for 5 years so if anyone is being paid it’s not me.

The weekend shirt is amazing. I have one and it’s still going strong after about 2/3 years and I wear it constantly! I do get it dry cleaned which helps keep it crisp but I am amazed at how the lovely colour has stayed so fresh after all this time. I also recently got a cotton sweater that is super cute (haven’t had much chance to wear it though due to relentless heatwaves)

I haven’t had as much success with their other stuff though, the shorts don’t suit me and I don’t suit their blouses or dresses either.

I think it’s 14 day returns so if you do buy to try it be aware that you’ll need to get it back pronto if you want a refund.

Does it matter that much? At all?

It's a brand I've heard of but never looked at. Looked at it today and nothing grabs me. I don't like any of the shirts. I don't wear shirts often but when I do it's short, boxy styles. Uniqlo's collaboration with JW Anderson is brilliant. But maybe someone else saw the shirt of their dreams.

WNU is an established brand based in the UK. It's not a scam, drop shipping site, which are appearing far too often on threads.

Me too, I don’t think their target customer is middle aged women who definitely need to wear a comfortable supportive bra and big Mummy knickers to hold in their meno belly.

Is the name dreamed up as a sad male fantasy that women walk around with no underwear on?

I saw their shirts in Liberty and did consider trying one as I had been targeted by a lot of ads and they did appeal. In the flesh, though, the shirt I picked up to try was actually completely uneven, with one side at the front significantly longer than the other. Put me off a bit, if I'm honest; for the price I'd expect quality control to be a strong point. Overall, I wouldn't say they were any nicer than the COS shirts I have. I went back to COS in the end as the quality has always been good in my experience, and their linen shirts were <£50 in the sale recently.

I have a seersucker set and I would say it fit pretty true to size on me (I used a tape measure to check against their size guide). The shirt looks loose and ‘insouciant’ (love that word ha ha!), the shorts look like I’m wearing my boxer shorts PJs out in my mind, but I think that’s just the look, and they are lovely crisp cotton that softens when worn.

I get lots of compliments when I wear the set in my admittedly posh market town. I don’t like to answer when anyone asks where it’s from though as I’m uncomfortable revealing the eye watering price. I’d love to find a cheaper alternative with such a good cut and colour.

Interested to see this thread come up - recently I bought a shirt and top in two different sizes so spent just under £400. I miscalculated the 14 day return window by one day (losing weight currently and was trying to assess which size was better) - they would only issue me a credit note for the value of the two returned items. I’ve emailed to ask them to reconsider given I kept half of the order.
I’ve not had a negative customer experience like this with any other independent retailer, so has left a sour taste tbh. I will buy shirts as gifts with the credit note and unlikely to shop there again.

I have the navy seersucker set and I disagree. It looks fabulous. It's practical, comfortable and I've had loads of compliments.

I have one of their embroidered linen shirts - I think it was a limited edition - it’s gorgeous and I paid for the embroidery/design basically. I would never pay what they charge for a simple plain linen shirt. The shirt itself is less soft than my plain white Zara linen shirt. I think a lot of it is marketing

I went in the Marylebone shop today. It was nice but quite expensive for what it was. Quite plain and linen wasn’t soft. I tried on the Rampling trousers they were lovely but enormous (both width and length). The shirts were also very long. Seems made for very tall women.

Gant linen is much softer. Me&Em was much higher quality for the price. So I was glad I saw it in person.

Clearly I’m in the minority here, but I’ve bought a couple of things and I don’t think the fit is good. Possibly a tall person problem - but everything is cut a bit too short for me.

Yes, I am obsessed with WNU - I own a few jumpers and shirts and wear them constantly. Makes me feel put together and comfortable. I only wish I was slightly shorter so I could wear their linen mini dresses (a bit too mini on my 5'11 frame!")

I have quite a few of their pieces across a range of fabrics. While I do think they are expensive the quality is there and surpasses high street store offerings IMO. It feels less mass produced than Me+Em. I recently bought a linen shirt from WNU and one from Uniqlo hoping I’d like the Uniqlo one more but the cut felt skimpy and the linen was nothing like the WNU one. I think the price of both shirts reflected their quality and I decided to keep the WNU shirt. I’ve returned the shirts with the exaggerated cuffs and bibs in the past as they didn’t suit me. Sizing is big on me so I size down for everything except the shorts. I’m not tall but do have a long torso so maybe that’s why I can get away with the fit of their shirts. Hate the name too though.

Beautiful quality shirts, wash and wear well. Same quality knitwear, just the right amount of slouchy. Bit £££ but isn’t everything now ☹️

It’s a weird name and the endorsements here are all positive yet lacklustre. I can see why someone said it’s a promotional thread.

Every high street store I walk into has boyfriend-style linen and cotton shirts in pinks, blues, cream or white, striped or plain. How are these any different from the huge range at M&S, Zara, Mango, even Primark?
