What to wear at work never ending heatwave

I've run out of clothes I can reasonably wear now in mid 30 degrees and having to go to the office 3 days per week.

I've been wearing short sleeve and 3/4 sleeve blouses with ankle length trousers or culottes. I need to look reasonably smart. I'm fat and need to lose weight and dresses from last year look like maternity wear. In the meantime I need some ideas please.

I would just wash and wear again. No one will care if you're cycling through the same outfits every week for a few weeks over summer.

I meant to say that the clothes I've been wearing are too hot so I need to buy some new tops and trousers.

Very close to turning up to work in beach wear which may be frowned upon!

If you like the clothes your wearing now go for the same shapes in different colours? In light fabrics

My go to are floaty maxi skirts with a cotton top.

I’m just wearing various colours of linen trousers with plan t-shirts

Uniqlo have some good linen mix pieces that all go together and are easy to wear. Loose-fit shirts, wide trousers and dresses.

I’ve been wearing loose trousers and sleeveless tank tops that go up to my neck with no chest showing and wide parts over the shoulders. I work in a classroom and there’s 35 bodies in the room. I have just been going in relatively casual and I don’t care one bit. An email went out about remaining dressed professional. I’m dressed smart but if they are having a meltdown over my shoulders then that is their problem as far as I’m concerned because there’s nothing scandalous about my limbs. I’m not suffering in a room that is 35 degrees inside with 35 people.

So honestly, wear what you want! Expecting professionalism over keeping cool is dangerous and negligence for health and safety on their part.

I have both pure linen and linen mix trousers which are so comfy - but just feel self conscious as they crease like crazy!

This is why I ever wear linen. I really hate that creased look and i dont find it very cool.
Ive been wearing this Roman dress to death its like wearing air and keeps everything covered.

I wear scrubs in the summer in my clinic. One size too big. Cool and like wearing PJs.

Bear with me .....there are some lovely light and breezy wide leg trousers out there at the moment made from polyester. It doesn't feel like polyester, it's a light woven fabric and is very cool and comfortable to wear. I got a couple of pairs I think from New Look in a stone with thin brown stripe and a black, and I am wearing them with cap sleeve black or white t shirts for work in this heat. They look smarter than linen trousers (I actually find pure linen too hot) and are really nice to wear.

Please post a link! This sounds perfect 😊

What a find. That looks comfy and smart. Unfortunately this would just accentuate my large and pregnant looking tum🫣

Ah ok. Are you looking for breezy trousers and tops and discounting dresses?

TealShark · Yesterday 14:05

I’ve gone for Nike shorts that are almost like bicycle shorts and a big black tshirt!

I don't think that would work in my (non medical related) office 😆

Crunchymum · Yesterday 14:38

I've been living in cotton t-shirts (Primark do 100% cotton t-shirts for £3) and Bermuda shorts....plain coloured Bermuda shorts not Hawaiian style.

I have these and they are actually smarter than they look and relatively cool.

Using Primark as they are the cheapest price point but you can find similar in all highstreet stores.

Yes I need some tops and cooler trousers!

Just been out to the shops and I couldn't find anything. I'm dreading next week as it seems the temperature will remain around 30 degrees.

What about a couple of these shirts?

All cheap, cotton, a few colours in the trousers, could be clicked and collected from Sainsbury tomorrow?
I always think in a plain white shirt you look cool and put together even if it's really hot? And that double cloth is a loose, airy weave.

Worth having a good look at Tu. They seem to have a lot of good simple basics at the moment.

TemporarilyCantDoMyself · Yesterday 16:45

Primark is a good shout too, I got 3 good shirts there last year that are excellent for the heat.

LlynTegid · Yesterday 16:46

For a couple of weeks your managers should act their responsibilities and reduce the number of days in the office.

christina1971 · Yesterday 18:15

There are some nice dresses in the Whitestuff sale. They wash really well, too.

sakura06 · Yesterday 18:17

I have to wear dresses in this weather or I can’t cope. It’s the only time of year that I don’t care if I look fat as comfort takes precedence!

SwedishEdith · Yesterday 18:25

What about these cotton culottes?

I've got a pair of those TU trousers as well and they are very cool. Both types of cool, 😎 🧊
