Where to buy long cotton nighties, Victorian type style

I am not doing well in this heat (who is?!) and have got it into my head that the comfiest thing to wear around the house would be a long, billowing cotton nightie, the sort of thing my long-deceased grandmothers used to wear. They used to get them in places like BHS or M&S but obviously BHS doesn’t exist and the only ones M&S do these days are too close fitting. I am after something which wouldn’t look amiss in Peter Pan. Please tell me that these still exist somewhere but without being on some sort of specialist retro website where I need to spend £££. If that’s the case, I’ll just stick to my beach cover up

Powell Craft! I had one from there and it was so beautiful.

This is where you need a time machine to visit Past Times! My billowy Victorian style nightie is still going strong, if slightly yellowed after 30+ years.

Just to echo a previous poster - I have a number of old fashioned style nighties from Cologne and Cotton and I adore them. www.cologneandcotton.com/bedroom/cotton-nightwear?p=2

Ooohh! I wasn’t expecting such a response. I have just had a lovely time browsing various websites for optimal
waftiness. I can’t believe that there are now even options with pockets - I can feel my maternal grandmother dancing with glee in her grave at such a sensible development. I used to get a lot of nightwear from Powell Craft for the DC when they were little and had forgotten they did adult nightwear too. Past Times - how I mourn that shop. Along with The Pier. There was always something I liked in both of those shops.
So far, I have bought one from Next as that will be delivered mid-afternoon tomorrow so wafting can commence from about 5pm. And then I shall deliberate further on which other one(s) to go for. I am feeling cooler just thinking about it. Bliss!

I’m now in love with these nighties. I never knew proper cotton nighties existed!

I wear kaftans off Amazon when its boiling. Kaftans are more hot weather appropriate and you can still open the front door.

MeAndMyGhost · Today 07:19

Powell Craft!

Their sleeveless nighties are fantastic, 100% cotton and wash so well and seem to dry in double quick time, which has been a boon during the recent hot weather.

I have a lovely on from Lunn Antiques

Cheap and cheerful? Peacocks. I have a couple and they're great!

Thank you - I have M&S t shirt ones but the necks are really high - been looking for others for ages!
