Awaiting facelift surgery tomorrow, and would appreciate positive thoughts and advice

Hi .. just this really … I’m on a train with my little surgery bag … waiting for it to sink in .. I managed to convice myself it’s only a consultation at 7:45 tomorrow.
Expecting panic to set in any time 😬

Any positive thoughts,advice, experiences super appreciated…

I posted about this some weeks ago, i hope i don’t come across as an attention seeker,It’s just a good place when you need advice/ support/ ears.

Hello….eyes quite swollen today so won’t type much, but thank you for thinking of me, your posts are super appreciated 💓@Reportingfromwherever yes, I had a few sips of beer which knocked me down for few good hours, and had a shower even. Tomorrow I’m taking the train back south, so trying to get my self together. @EstherGreenwood63 I did! I regret nothing 😁- it was a brave decision, I sort of still can’t believe I did it 😁.
@LaurieFairyCake thank you, yes, I think the swelling is getting worse before it gets better.
I had DP face/necklift and endoscopic temporal brow lift, my lovely surgeon said he was very happy with what he did, so I feel reassured and excited. (Took over 5 hours 😬). I’ll post a now photo.

Gosh I hope this isn't rude but how old are you? I mean you don't look that old in the pics (or maybe your surgeon has just done an amazing job). Could I ask how much you paid for it. I'm well into middle age and with lots of weight to lose I'm thinking I might be needing one of these afterwards. Well done for being so brave!

Hi… my eyes are super swollen& tiny, so can hardly read - will read/post more when I can …but no, not rude ( unless you’re a guy), I’m 59, the swelling makes you look super young haha , but honestly I think I had the most amazing surgeon … I researched a lot and had to travel but definitely worth the effort for me… I’m on a train heading back south … as you do on day 3 😆… battered and bruised and victorious… seriously ..I shouldn’t be feeling as great as I am at this stage 🤣

Glad you’re feeling well enough to travel, that sounds like a really good sign. You do look young there as a PP said!
Are you able to say where you had it done/who your surgeon was? I note you’re going south. I’m in Yorkshire so I’m just wondering if it’s anyone near me that I can check out!

Today is day 4, day3/4 should be the worst, swelling is terrible but no pain, so will post a photo of the peak. It’s supposed to get better after today. I’m on antibiotics only. No pain killers.
God knows what’s underneath all the swelling, hopefully it won’t all end up in tears 😂- but I feel calm and reassured because of my surgeon. I am so grateful to those who recommended him.

It’s Mr. Chris West, he works in York and Leeds privately and for nhs, he is honest, confident and passionate about his work,and just lovely overall. (He advised against extras, unlike many who sell add-ons, I got so much respect for that).

I thought I looked maybe a bit like post a motorbike accident, until a girl shouted at me from few seats further “what’ve you got done”😆 - I pointed at face, neck & brows ..I wasn’t trying to cover at all, I was embracing it and feeling proud not to hide or feel shamed/ embarrassed.. I didn’t expect this to be such empowering and liberating experience. I didn’t think I had it in me. ( got a character lift as well 🤣).

i had a facelift and upper blephroplasty with Dr Chris West just over a year ago and it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. Your results will just get better and better over the next 12 months.

To me your input was priceless and pivotal in my final decision to go with him, and part of the reason I want to share too, if it helps others in their journey. Aww you are very welcome. I didn’t realise you were the person whose thread I had commented on before. I had a tiny complication and Mr West was very good about sorting it out a few months later so you can rely on the after care too. It would have been a real headache if I had gone to Turkey for the operation.

@WhoInvitedHer god yes,the value of feeling reassured, and fully trusting your surgeon and the aftercare just can’t be overstated. Honestly, I can’t thank you enough for sharing @WhoInvitedHer. Can I ask what issues you had addressed? Mr West reassured me he can do minor tweaks later if necessary once we see the results. ( I was concerned about my mouth corners/ upside down smile and he’d rather revisit than overdo, he is so lovely!).

Today is exactly one week,tomorrow stitches come out. (I can post a photo if anyone wants this milestone 😆).

It was a tiny permanent stitch that managed to work its way to the surface by my hairline which he did a little nick to the skin and trimmed back. It’s perfect now

I got my stitches removed yesterday.
Now,stitch-free, bandage-free and refurbished! . I don’t know who was more smug, me or Mr West 😁😆 - (it had better still look decent once all rest of swelling is gone 😬, many people say they looked a bit better before the last bits of swelling was gone, did it feel this way for you too? ).

How many weeks off work are needed? And exercise for that matter?

I just had a brow lift consultation and he suggested upper blepharoplasty too. Not keen tbh and 2 weeks off anyway.

Abd am awaiting a price and probably a stiff drink 🤣

Hi… yes a stiff drink always helps 😆

They often do both procedures together, I was torn which would be better for me, (upper bleph has a very high satisfaction/ value for money rate, but I wasn’t too keen on touching my eyes and heard that sometimes it makes brows look lower), I went for brow lift in the end, brows don’t look much elevated but the lids much better- my surgeon said I don’t need upper bleph if I do brow lift. I love that he discouraged me.
First photo right after stitch removal, and another-all out. My phone isn’t recognising me which is causing me a lot of headache I didn’t think of 😆
My surgeon said 3 more weeks before high intensity training, so 4 altogether. I feel very good and lots of energy, I’d say 2 weeks to be back to work at this rate, but each person is different, normally downtime is more about 3 weeks.

You look sssoo stunning, you must be so really happy 😊. My 1st consultations not till Jan but happy to wait for Chris. I also live South a 4.5 hr journey away and was thinking would have to drag partner up for surgery, hang around there for a week for stich removal before returning home. So is travelling there and back by train on your own do-able for surgery? Then by what you're saying back again in 10 days for stiches out, again solo? This would be so much better for me if thats what you did and was ok as partner could then stay home to look after dogs?

Definitely worth waiting for Chris West!

Train was great,seats are reserved,you can choose quiet coach,seat,assistance etc.. (free), takes less than 2 hours from London,just one stop! (overall, with a car, it would have taken me double the train time, so for me it was a no brainer). You have to stay local the first night, possibly 2 depending how you feel. ( I was full
of energy and still ‘high as a kite’ as Chris said I would be first 2 days). You do need someone to pick you up and be with you, and ideally accompany you on train I think ( just in case , not everyone recovers from anaesthesia this fast,I was buzzing ).

Next appointment is around day 8 to remove stitches, then again after a month, I went on my own without a problem and enjoyed shopping & exploring York 😊, my next is on Thursday, train is so convenient I’m glad I don’t have to burden anyone or drive for hours.

You must be so excited, i found it empowering and one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself. Way beyond the looks 💃
