Yes or no to Jorts?

I’m not on board with jorts although I do have shorter denim shorts. This length never seems to work for me. The proportions are just off somehow.

Top - Yes.
Jorts - No. (but I am a dress or skirt person over anything else)

I think they look amazing on some people, not me unfortunately. Although the people I’ve seen look cool in them have ranged in sizes and styles. I’ve seen some classy ones as a linen two piece, some quirky colour ones and denim grunge style and all the women looked fab at their various sizes and styles.

Actually I take the 'culottes' bit back. Proper culottes (in my strictly personal opinion) are the 1970s style with a much lower crotch join so, at first sight, they look and move like a skirt - I really like them. The ones here look as if they're cut like jeans, so more emphasis on the arse. I still don't see what's so challenging about them though.

I would love to wear them but I am 5 foot nothing and would look terrible.

I agree - I've seen a lot of these about- denim or cotton twill and they look really normal to me. I like them because I sort of like the skater type look and I am tall so when I wear shorter shorts (which I also do quite a lot) it feels like a lot of leg. This is good option for slightly cooler days and the width of them is a good balance for me. I have always preferred wide leg things - culottes, massive wide leg jeans etc and a neater fitting top.

Trying something on for a laugh is how I ended up with some of my favourite clothes.

Freaking love them! Was early on the culottes / Jorts band wagon… actually, never really went off them since first… second time around!

I spent my twenties in a job where I wore board shorts every day, so this silhouette is a throw back to a happy time for me. It's definitely 2000's surf and skate culture rather than culottes in my eyes.

I have a gorgeous grey denim pair from Next which I'm living in with a vest top and flip flops.

Still refusing to call them "jorts" though.

I don’t like them but that might be because I know I’d look awful in them!

I think they're one of those things that will take a bit of getting used to (like dresses with trainers) but before long will be everywhere because they're so easy to wear, and then they'll start looking normal.

I think they are the sort of thing worn by people with less than perfect legs who think that hiding their legs makes them look better - but chances are that they would actually look a lot better if they just wore normal shorts. Especially if the person concerned is short.

I wear long shorts and short shorts. Think my legs are pretty decent for an older bird 😆

I don't think they are challenging at all. On me they are the same length and cut as a denim skirt but feel a bit more relaxed.

I’m jealous 😊. Was definitely thinking of myself in my comment. After years of buying knee length shorts which did nothing for me, I bought some shorter ones last year and much prefer how I look in them. I’m 60, 5’3” and size 16.

I agree that actually short shorts often look more flattering than longer ones. I have some mid thigh length ones that do nothing for me at all. I find shorter ones or jorts work best for me.
