Just look at evening dresses on John Lewis and you’ll find something suitable that can be delivered quickly to your nearest Waitrose

I rate black tie as being something distinct from day wear, as in it would be hard to wear to a daytime occasion. So needs to have some of satin/lace/chiffon/sparkles/velvet and/or be an evening wear type silhouette (long/revealing) to kind of set it apart.

This kind of thing, looks summery with the light fabric and colour

Emlyn Wrap Satin Maxi Dress | Phase Eight UK |

Radiating pure elegance and sophistication, this soft blue satin maxi dress will turn all the heads. The wrap bodice beautifully drapes with complementary pleating on one side; these details add refinement to the luxe silhouette. Style with your favour...

If you have a week to go but know your side in the jolie dress what other styles do they have in?

not sure about your height but Scarlett and jo would be an easy choice….too long for me normally. I’m an 18 5ft4.

Don’t like the pink stripes much but the same dress comes in an electric blue which is far better.

I think the dress is the better option and would look fine with the right shoes and maybe some discreet jewellery, nothing too blingy. Love the jumpsuit but I would go with the dress. Don't waste your money on an alternative . However I often see nice black tie / posh dresses in local charity shops so if like me you like a hunt around then maybe have a browse for something second hand. Personally I like the dress though

It’s just occurred to me - I bought an amazing dress a few years ago for a black tie do that I love love love. Never wore it as I had to have emergency surgery and am no longer the right size for the dress, nor will I ever have another occasion to wear it! It deserves to be worn. If you’d like it, you’re welcome to it!

it’s this dress but in the colour in the pic. (Not my pic - I’m out and about so I nabbed it off someone’s Vinted listing!) I’d be happy for you to have it if you like it. :)

EDIT: it’s saying photo under review, so spoiler alert - it’s a more jewel toned, darker purple.

Edited

What a super kind offer. And it’s an absolutely perfect dress.

imo the cape isn’t hot-making, neccesarily! It’s very lovely, as well.
