Yes, probably

Violetparis · 12/06/2026 13:09

Yes ! My 19yr old goth self would have loved it.

ThejoyofNC · 12/06/2026 13:10

A bit long for a 19 year old maybe? Depends on their style. Modern goth tends to be more revealing.

Sesquioxides · 12/06/2026 13:11

No sorry I preferred better shaping and structured styles edged with lace in the Victoriana style when I was a 19 year old goth. But times have changed since then.

Middletoleft · 12/06/2026 13:14

Yes. My taste back in day was more Southern Vampire ie lace, velvet and taffeta.

DaisyMayBojangles · 12/06/2026 13:59

I was more of a crushed green velvet kind of goth at 19

She has a long black crushed velvet skirt that she loves but wants another option too. She tends to wear t shirts (of bands that I've never heard of) rather than Victoriana style things. She's a bit of a mish mash!

Mmm not sure.. my niece is an 18yo goth and I don’t think that’d be extreme enough for her.

Pieceofpurplesky · 12/06/2026 16:31

Yes and my son's 22 yo goth gf would too

TwoLeggedGrooveMachine · 12/06/2026 16:34

I would have done, I’d probably wear it now. I was a goth/indie/grunge mash up though. And I was a size 14 in the early 90s so would have worn clothes to hide my hips. Body positivity wasn’t a thing then.

Joolsin · 12/06/2026 16:37

Definitely, I would have worn that with black DM boots, a band T-shirt and men's black waistcoat, and accessorised with leather studded belt and many silver necklaces/bangles!!

CreepingCrone · 12/06/2026 16:41

53 year old gothic me would also wear that skirt 🦇

This is exactly the kind of thing she wears.

thedevilinablackdress · 12/06/2026 17:37

Yes, I would have worn it then and would now too. Probably would have ripped the lining or or hitched it up at the side. I did (do) like fiddling with my clothes.

UrOutdoors · 12/06/2026 17:39

Depends which period of goth you mean. In the early 80s I was a bit more scruffy Berlin avant garde in the 1930s.

Def more of an 80s vibe for her. She had on a 'Richard's' black blazer the other day, which sounds as far removed from goth as I could imagine, but by the time she was finished with it, she looked great. I just don't have her imagination or vision, I'm very boring!

I love the skirt and would've worn it.

Right, hands up, who else had a West German army shirt from the army surplus store?
Mine made it into the 90s grunge phase then was relegated to DIY and painting; it's thick and warm with useful pockets. I actually had it on yesterday. 😆

PiggieWig · 12/06/2026 19:18

I would have back in the day but the young goths I know prefer miniskirts.
You know her best though and it sounds like it suits her style. It’s a nice skirt.

I did, when I morphed a bit from 80s goth to early 90s grunge!! Loved that shirt, so soft!

My friends and I used to go to the Army & Navy' store in Glasgow in the 80s for this kind of stuff. Also for our army bag school bags. 🤣

Spent last weekend mending my old army surplus shirt/jacket I bought there 😁 And I still use my wee satchel.

RhosynCymru · 12/06/2026 21:48

Yes I would definitely wear that - I have similar in my wardrobe.

Nowadays that crosses into faerie.
