Body lotion that’s not greasy that’s perfect for summer.

I usually use Cerave Ceramide body lotion, it’s great works but is utterly joyless.

My luxury is the L’Occitane almond body cream or their tubs of Shea butter. Too heavy for summer.

I need something light enough to not be greasy but nourishing enough to stop the dryness and if it could make my almost 50yr old skin feel like I’m 35 again I’ll take it!

Not palmers coco butter, I can’t stand the smell.

Palmers cocoa butter, the most be in the bottle, not the tub. I wear this year round, even as after sun and when healing tattoos. It is marvellous..

The French brand Nocibe and range is les delices coco.

that’s what I’ve got as well as others. Sorry but French skincare (not all of it though) blows ours out of the water:-

Nivea aftersun. I use it as a body moisturiser all year round.

I know mumsnetters don't like The Bodyshop, but I love their British Rose body yogurt. It sinks in straight away, smells gorgeous are is not sticky at all.

I use Sol De Janeiro Body Badalada. It’s the original scent, but in a pump lotion rather than the original thick body butter. It’s the only one I’ve used where the smell actually does stay all day.

Sunshineandrainbow · 11/06/2026 07:22

I have an aveeno spray that's sinks in well and is light.

I now want to buy the french ones though!

IAMFLUFF · 11/06/2026 07:24

Clarins Moisture-Rich Body Lotion - the best.

PinkMagnoliaTree · 11/06/2026 07:52

Here for the recs, I still haven't got over Nivea discontinuing my original lotion. I can agree with the French though - my daughter and I went on a cruise last year and in one of the ports found a really lovely one smelling of Marseilles soap. I bought one for myself but it got lost. My daughter smells suspiciously lovely when I see her though 🤔 😂

I really rate the Sanctuary body lotions and use them most days because I can get dressed after using them rather than hanging around waiting for lotion to sink in.

Their wet skin moisture miracle you put on when you're soaking wet and still in the shower and then you towel try as usual.

But my preference is their mousse body lotion which has a really light texture and soaks in immediately.

WildFlowerBees · 11/06/2026 10:01

I like to slap it all over and be able to get dressed a few mins later, I’m not someone who works it in I just chuck it on! Some lovely recommendations here to try thank you.

I feel the same.

I think you can't go wrong with Nivea, Vaseline or Dove.

Although at the moment I have the Neutrogena Norwegian Formula which I am loving, as it sinks straight in. I am in winter now though, so much drier than usual and I haven't tried this one in the summer months.

My French one is lovely. I put it away when I got it, then found it and was delighted on using it! A gorgeous lotion, nice smell, luxe but not too luxe. Ideal for everyday. Back to France this year on hols so will repurchase.

Must try that mousse one. Years ago Johnson and Johnson did a baby oil mousse that was lovely. Of course they discontinued it!

Q+A Ceramide lotion. Ticks all your boxes, soaks in v quickly, nice scent but not overpowering, v reasonable price. Wouldn’t be without it!

I don’t think supermarkets no. Mine was bought for me in Normandy or Brittany. They’ve got a website ask them where it’s sold (maybe pharmacie). They do have shops though, there are ones in bayeux, Caen, Cherbourg, carrefour mondeville, carrefour Caen, Rouen, Le Havre, Deauville, saint malo, quimper - the carrefour ones look like they’re not in Carrefour but have Carrefour as address. Lots more locations. Le Havre, Cherbourg and bayeux are near ferry ports it looks like. One in Boulogne, the one in Calais is closed. Eurostar to Paris? They have 12 shops there.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 12/06/2026 16:47

It’s been a long time since I went to Boulogne (if that’s near for you) but it’s not bad for a day out. Good fish and chips. 🍟

Rituals also do a mousse body lotion that's good. It's definitely the easiest texture IMO for slapping on and getting dressed.

Oh yes, I’m sure I’ve tried it. Must look for it again.
