Trainee window dresser?

VictoriaEra · 07/05/2026 13:59

It's weird. I can't imagine it working in real life. It's trying too hard to be 'something new' in my opinion.

thedevilinablackdress · 07/05/2026 13:59

Vaguely retro 00s ?
No

7238SM · 07/05/2026 14:00

What's it called- no idea
Do you like it- no

Ineedanewsofa · 07/05/2026 14:00

It’s called “Hillary Duff 2003” and should be skipped by anyone who remembers it from then…

Iriseee · 07/05/2026 14:01

Looks like someone dressed in a hurry with their nightie hitched into their knickers

I did think “not this shit again!”

Awful, awful.

SixLeggedSugarBug · 07/05/2026 14:03

It looks awful whatever it's called, it might just be passable if they showed what the model in the jeans photo is wearing.

StephensLass1977 · 07/05/2026 14:18

I dressed like this around 2003. Along with winkle picker shoes. Shudder.

Very Oasis/Kookai/Jane Norman early 2000s

musselsandwelks · 07/05/2026 14:23

Those barrel jeans are awful. I vaguely remember thrm being a thing in the 80's,very unflattering.

Lightswitchy · 07/05/2026 14:46

Paid extra to advertise tat.
or Got dressed in the dark
and to answer your other question , no

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 07/05/2026 14:48

I have a memory of wearing something similar twenty odd years ago in my early thirties.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/05/2026 16:25

I’d call this ‘style’ (it doesn’t merit the term!) ‘ugly mish- mash’.

Notyouagaindear · 07/05/2026 16:51

I saw tops like this in M&S and Next today - both had asymmetrical hemline and a floaty chiffon type of mock layer underneath - definitely something I would have worn in the early 00s

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/05/2026 16:59

It’s a bit Lagenlook, but less baggy.

BleedinglyObvious · 07/05/2026 17:01

Crap?

SassyButClassy · 07/05/2026 17:03

Haha you all are making me laugh!! Thought it was just me that hated this and you're right about 00s and Hilary Duff @Ineedanewsofa

I forgot about her!

I’ve suddenly remembered the time I bought lace to sew around the hemline of a denim skirt 🥴 - I think it was 2002. If I recall, there were loads of tops with wizard type sleeves? Totally impractical of course. I coveted the one Britney Spears wore in the end credit song of Crossroads 🙈

Notyouagaindear · 07/05/2026 17:10

We didn't know any better!! 😃 I'd still take her abs though!!

Definitely seeing lots of asymmetrical hems so it feels like the scarf/belt is a nod to that. I think this only works if you're very slim hipped... wrapping an extra layer and drawing attention to around my widest part wouldn't flatter me!

landlordhell · 07/05/2026 17:39

thedevilinablackdress · 07/05/2026 13:59

No

That’s what I thought. I was pregnant in 2000 and the scarf around waist fashion came in handy to ‘dress’ my bump! No I don’t like it.

EveryDayisFriday · 07/05/2026 17:39

I've seen it described as Y2k style. It's not for me, I'm too hourglass not gamine.
