Striped trousers - nice or Andy Pandy?

Or do they just look like pyjamas?

I’ve bought the thin striped ones but am unsure.

There are different colours as well. Red green and brown with neutral background

They left out "young".

An omission quickly dealt with ! It's so infuriating.

I think they are ok if you are young and slim, a student maybe.

Atoxicsewerofhate · 02/05/2026 14:12

😂

Monacomadness · 02/05/2026 14:14

The trend will die out so fast. Like the yellow raincoat of 2019

I am a victim of both things! 🐤

Attenboroughsmistress · 02/05/2026 14:14

I have never ever managed to make striped trousers feel like anything other than pyjamas unfortunately.

ElizabethVonArnim · 02/05/2026 14:50

Absolutely Andy Pandy. I got some of those posh-student stripy trousers that were trendy last year and got called Andy Pandy at least three times by friends and once by a man in the street.

I was a student at 54. While the stress and excitement of the first few weeks meant I dropped two dress sizes, I wouldn’t have described myself as young, or slim. I still wore exactly what I wanted to wear.

That is why I included the word “maybe”

Good for you for wearing what you want. It wasn’t my intention to police any one else’s choices. Op asked a question and I gave my honest response.

Part of the issue is that the fabric is so thin so I was blaming the manufacturers more than the wearers!

So I asked dd, who has been officially described as brutally honest during her autism diagnosis, and she quite liked them!

I’m still humming and hawing. But your replies have made me laugh.

Go for it op!

I’ve just ordered the circus tent ones 😁

I think they’ll look nice with a white t shirt!

exhaustedandoverit · 03/05/2026 11:19

I like them and have 2 pairs, one brown and cream and the other black and white. Nobody has compared them to PJs to my face, I’ve only had compliments.

EspanaPorfavor · 03/05/2026 11:42

DD8 says “clown trousers”

what does she know!

Purplecatshopaholic · 03/05/2026 11:45

I have a linen pair, black with a green stripe. Love them
