Which Adidas trainers are most comfortable: Samba, Spezial or Paris?

I’m trying to decide between three different styles of adidas trainers - samba, spezial and paris. If you’ve tried one or more, which are the most comfortable?

Spezial are great but I feel like the size is a bit off. I’m a size 5 and they are just a bit too big so I have to wear two pairs of socks Confused

I love my spezials and have them in numerous colour combos.

I have narrow, flat (fallen arches) feet and find them super comfy.
I have to wear insoles in all other trainers but love the built in arch support the spezials provide. I can.walk all day in them.

Oceangrey · 29/04/2026 08:06

I like Spezials, have wide feet and need arch support. They are good although not as comfortable as my On Cloud trainers. But I have the liberty ones and they are a lot prettier!

I went and tried all the styles on and then bought online.

Huh, I just tried to find them online to show you and it turns out they aren't Spezials at all. They may not even be Liberty although there definitely are Liberty versions.

They are the less catchy SL 72 OG. Also very comfy.

Here are the ones I have. May get a lighter colour for summer.

Thanks - they would be lovely for winter

I have both Spezials & Sambas - both are uncomfortable in my opinion, very hard to break in and to be honest I wouldn’t want to buy another pair of Adidas shoes because of this. The Spezials are slightly less uncomfortable as they are more supportive but the heel blisters were never ending! Also the suede is a PITA to keep clean. Bought Sambas a few months ago and had instant regret - the soles are so thin that there is 0 support, you really wouldn’t want to be walking any sort of long distance in them. Very narrow as well and the same blister issue as the Spezials.

New Balance or Nike are so much better

Rosecoffeecup · 29/04/2026 12:49

Not one of your options, but I find Campus 00s the comfiest trainers ive ever owned

handsdownthebest · 29/04/2026 14:01

I have recently bought a pair of Gazelle Bold and they are super comfy and also give me that extra height I need

Pleasedontdothat · 29/04/2026 15:00

Not keen on the gazelles tbh - I really don’t like trainers with platformy soles.

mochimoons · 29/04/2026 16:10

Sambas are number 1 for me and have been comfortable from day 1, Spezials are comfy too but I had to break them in and get used to the arch. I put some Gazelles (non-platform ones) on Vinted because they are just so uncomfortable for me and the leather is squeaky even after a few wears.

Freda69 · 29/04/2026 17:25

I just got some Spezials - I went up a half size as my feet are a little bit wide. I have to do the laces right up but that’s fine. I think the arch support will take a little bit of wearing in. So not immediately comfortable like Hotter shoes are.
They look really nice, but have only worn them round the house so far, because I don’t want to get them grubby. Beige with pink flashes.

HostessTrolley · 29/04/2026 19:53

I love my burgundy spezials - I have very wide feet x

Cocolapew · 29/04/2026 21:18

I got the burgundy Samba mary janes today, they are gorgeous.

Nickelouch · 29/04/2026 21:29

Another big up for Campus! Comfy and so cool. Feel like 90s me.

Was some bargain Liberty Spezials new on Vinted yesterday!

This is a trainer-nerd point but it might be useful information for someone some way down the line.

"Spezial" and sometimes SPZL is a suffix Adidas use from time to time when they revive an classic style of trainer, it's their cooler sub-brand run by a British designer called Gary Aspden. The ones that are currently being promoted heavily by Adidas, and which I think most of the posts on this thread are about, are the Handball Spezial.

But there have been and will continue to be other types of Spezial, and I just wanted to say this because if you go on Vinted and search "Adidas Spezial" you might get something totally different. If you search that and you are mostly seeing the Handball Spezials, that's just because they are currently very popular.

OK got that off my chest now.

boxtop · 30/04/2026 09:32

I'm predicting a shell-toe Superstar revival next year based on absolutely nothing but I can feel it in my bones

ThisKhakiCrow · 02/05/2026 08:52

Inspired by this thread I have bought some handball Spezials. I have loads of trouble with my feet and I'm supposed to wear orthotics but they're so uncomfortable. The Spezials built up arch bit is great, very similar shape to my orthotics. I have narrow feet but as I've got older my toes seem to need to spread and thr Spezials fit lovely and are so comfy.

I have Gazelles but they are so flat I can't walk long distances in them. My all time favourite are Superstars and the Spezials are a replacement for my tatty pair.

I’ve got the brown Spezials and had Sambas in the past. Much prefer Spezials as they feel less heavy and make my big feet look less like a clown.

The brown Spezials also go with almost everything so I can see they’re going to be a forever trainer.

Pleasedontdothat · 02/05/2026 14:33

My lovely new Handball Spezials arrived today and they are super-comfy. They’re a replacement for my much-loved Gazelles which finally gave up the ghost last week but are much lighter and I love the arch support. Thank you for the recommendations.

My Speziels have memory foam in the bottom so muchore comfy than all my other Adidas

Ah, see you've already bought 😂

hahabahbag · 02/05/2026 14:38

You need to try on, I have really comfortable adidas trainers but no idea what they are called, I tried on multiple pairs in sports direct and these were actually the cheapest but most comfortable for me, my dd chose a different style as that suited her narrow feet. Last year’s styles are much cheaper too (hint nobody looks at your feet anyway, comfort rules!)
