Which Adidas trainers are most comfortable: Samba, Spezial or Paris?

I’m trying to decide between three different styles of adidas trainers - samba, spezial and paris. If you’ve tried one or more, which are the most comfortable?

OP posts:

honestly it's really about your foot shape and size. it's a strange question.

It’s not really a strange question. The op is just looking for feedback from others who have these shoes.

I find this type too flat but I love the Gazelles bold which have a chunky sole. I have 2 pairs and they are so comfy.

I have awkward feet so it would be strange to me TBH. I would never buy footwear online as I have to try on so many shoes before I find anything comfortable - even trainers and slippers.

Life is too short to wear uncomfortable shoes.

boxtop · 28/04/2026 13:29

Not a strange question but it does depend on your feet

High arches, wide feet: Handball Spezial
Medium arches, medium feet: Gazelle (or discontinued but brilliant Lacombe SPZL)
Medium arches, narrower feet: Stan Smiths
Flat arches, wider feet: Paris (I think! This is based on DH but please do not underestimate his ability to wear the wrong shoes)

I don't really like Sambas much so not sure where they fit in

CointreauVersial · 28/04/2026 13:55

Spezials. Really good arch support and comfy for wider feet.

Cocolapew · 28/04/2026 13:56

Stan Smiths are really comfy if you are looking for a flat trainer, they're a classic, they never go out of style.

ChiaSeedPudding · 28/04/2026 14:59

I walked 25000 steps a day, every day for 2 weeks (on holiday) in Sambas and they felt like slippers! I didnt get one blister. I hadn't even broken them in properly before we went.

Edited to add I have narrow, bony feet.

Mumwithbaggage · 28/04/2026 18:14

My spezials are very comfy but I think they are quite heavy, especially compared with the gazelles I walk for miles in. For eg, day out in London tomorrow with lots of walking. It'll be the gazelles.

Puffalicious · 28/04/2026 19:57

Hey, just found this. I swear by SL72s- totally different shape & sooooooo comfortable. I bought a new pair recently & love them.

DS swears by Spezials- like others here he has very wide feet.

However, ultimate comfort & like slippers are Nike Cortez. I've worn my gold ones to death, & recently got the beige with pink tick. They're so comfortable I can wear them all day, come home & forget I have them on.

I could buy a new pair of trainers every week I love them so much.

Seems to be loads of sales on! I'm sorely tempted by this colour of Cortez. What have you done OP?!😅

@Puffalicious I would never buy Nike personally!

Mencia · 28/04/2026 21:10

Japan are the comfiest. Gazelles come second

cantgardenintherain · 28/04/2026 21:16

Those very flat trainers are not good for you, as far as I understand.

juicelooseabootthishoose · 28/04/2026 21:22

@summerbeachescouldnt agree more about
sambas. Ive slipped several times in wet weather. Never happened to me in any other shoes. Still love em though!

Same. Adidas always.

RampantIvy · 28/04/2026 21:46

What's the objection to Nike?

Cocolapew · 28/04/2026 21:54

Im not a Nike fan, I always found them a bit small. But I have the Cortez in green and pink and black and white and love them. I can fit my insoles in them and they support my feet well

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/04/2026 21:56

I’m a weirdo on this thread as I have wide, small feet (UK 4) and find Sambas the most comfy - I have black and white, plain white, brown with blue, white with red, and leopard print pairs. I have a couple of pairs of Spezials but don’t reach for them often. I do like my SL72s per pp, but find the toe-box narrow to wear for a long time.

This is very useful.

What about Tokyo?

I have the samba ones - they look great but they are so slippy! Even on dry surfaces.
fell backwards flat on my back on a busy crossing in central London! Spezial are much better (as in not slippy) but too wide for my feet.

This happened to me too! After the second time I took a woodworking file to the sole (they are designed for astroturf apparently, so you basically aquaplane) and haven't fallen over since. They still rub my heels horribly after 18mo though.

Flomingho · 29/04/2026 01:12

Spezials all the way. Also, SL72 are a nice retro trainer in lovely colours. Sambas are very flat and as ppl mentioned have slippy soles. Campus O0s are comfortable but very chunky.

I won’t buy Nike after the Dylan Mulvaney fiasco. I like my women’s sportswear to be modelled and marketed by women.

tttigress · 29/04/2026 07:05

Just not Samba, they are really uncomfortable (nothing to do with size). They are so flat.

Had to stop wearing them.

Francestein · 29/04/2026 07:14

I have sambas but I think I can feel everything through the soles like the Princess & the Pea. I am eyeing off similar from Converse atm.
