Went for the big chop and it’s not quite gone to plan

I’ve chopped off my god-awful damaged waste length curly hair that really was horrific and aging me terribly.
And now I look like Lord Farquaad
What do I need to do to rectify this when I go to the new Hairdressers please? All inspiration gratefully received.
I also did one of those boxes dies on my hair to make it mid brown just a little bit darker than I am naturally and it’s gone a very fetching shade of orange
The majority of that’s been cut out now
I’ve been blonde for my entire life, but I do look old. I really do for my age. 48
So I was going to just try and go with my natural colour to see if that worked a bit better for me mid Brown, but I’m not sure if that’s a mistake

It's pointless with the big face. We need to be able to see your skin & face shape. Just scribble on your eyes etc if you must.

I feel like it has potential, but it’s definitely orange. You’ll have to take my word for that.

Honestly, @Apprentice26 i feel almost disappointed: I was anticipating much worse, your hair looks good! I love the natural curl.

No need for desperate action, but I’d probably move towards lots of highlights to blend it in
as you’re used to being blonde. that’s what I’ve done

And never box dye it again!

The texture is not helping, get a good blow dry and see how they style it.

You cannot really see anything in that picture , just go and get a decent haircut and I’m sure it will be fine , what is visible doesn’t look that bad .

The texture is what it is. It’s super curly when it’s looked after no changing that, even with a blow dry.

I think I’d definitely go to a stylist who is experienced in wavy/curly hair and do not fight what nature has given you! Take the time to encourage the curls - mousse and a diffuser. As for the colour - definitely need a professional when colouring previously dyed hair a different shade!

I must admit, I am quite disappointed. I was expecting a short bob, jaw length, that has gone triangular. I say this because that’s what happens to my hair if I go too short. But your hair is lovely.

You need a professional colour, home dyes are too solid.

Your hair is curly and desperately in need of moisture. Look into curly girl method and embrace your curls.

Otherwise it honestly doesn't look bad, just a bit in need of care.

Lord Farquaad 😂 Never heard of him before. I had to google him to see what he looked liked. Your hair is lovely and you don’t look anything like Lord F.

@Apprentice26 go on instagram or tiktok or something and search for bob curly hair cuts. Find something you like and show your hairdresser (I'm assuming when washed and styled it is a lot more curly?).

Don't fret too much. For a start, it's much too long to be Lord Farquad .

I've seen both rounded, more modern style cuts recently, but the side part more triangular look is also coming back in.

Another thing - you mention both that your long hair was aging you and that you look old. Maybe you do, maybe you don't - but your face is your face, I promise unless you go for a set and blue rinse you're not going to look as old as you are bashing yourself about!

The image below is what google throws up for me with one search - you'll find something you like I promise. Also, don't get hung up on "older" in the search, I'm close to your age and if you just search curly cuts you get 20 year olds.

That was the long hair and it just did not work for me at all. I looked at the same age as her and I’m 15 years younger so I figured I would go for young Carry instead. 😬
