Plain White Crew Neck T Shirt Recommendations

sunnygirl123 · 22/04/2026 19:48

I’m looking to purchase a plain white t-shirt that will be a wardrobe staple. Something I can dress up for work and dress down for the weekend. Prefer a crew neck. Anyone have any recommendations for ones that fit and sit well but also wash well? For reference I am a size 12/14 UK. Thank you MN!

I have some from Amazon essentials that are thicker than some that are much more expensive.

Another vote for Autograph. Even a bra with textured embroidery disappears under mine.

Cos all the way.

I got a great one from John Lewis last year - it's the only t shirt I've managed to find that genuinely looks boxy on, which was what I wanted. Slightly longer t shirt sleeves too, not the small cap sleeves that lots of them have. It is smart for work too if worn with smarter trousers.

Uniqlo or Cos

Which type from Next? The £7 one? They always have so many types and prices on their site

Yes I think they’re £7.50 this year. I bought some from Rapanui and from Next last and the Next ones have held their shape and colour much better than the more expensive Rapanui ones. I’ve just topped up on basics again and bought a couple of new t-shirts, same quality as last years.

I ordered this one from Next this week and it’s great. Thicker material so not see through. It’s listed as longline but it’s a great length not too long but long enough to tuck in.

Interestingly I have some stripy ones from Rapanui that have lasted brilliantly but the plain ones were awful!

@WednesdaysChild73 you definitely cannot see a bra through the Uniqlo U crew neck ones. They also don't pill at all, unlike some I've had from other brands.

(This one: https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E424873-000/00?colorDisplayCode=00&sizeDisplayCode=003)

Avoid anything described as "slub" as they are often see-through.

Thank you so much for answering my question.
