Appropriate funeral outfit for 14yr old

We’re visiting the UK to attend a funeral and I need to buy something for my daughter to wear but I just can’t find anything suitable.

Would it generally be ok for her to wear black trousers and some sort of muted top? The relative is on her dad’s side and I don’t have much contact so I can’t really ask if there is a ‘dress code’ as such.

She’s a size 10 and about 5’7 so kid’s clothes don’t fit any more but I don’t want to get anything too ‘old’.

Definitely not jeans in any way, even if they are black. Unless a person stipulated bright colours then it should be traditional black, that's respectful.

It's very outdated to have this attitude to dress code at funerals now.

Black jeans are perfectly fine. And also to PP saying she ca wear school uniform, I don't think a single 14 year old teenage girl would be comfortable wearing their school uniform to a funeral. 😂

@Ilovelurchers It’s so sad she lost her dad but that’s a man’s or work suit. My DDs would not choose that. A darker dress or outfit is fine and it doesn’t have to be formal and black.

Every funeral I’ve been to has folk in black but not under 20 unless Catholic. Men often dig out a black tie and I’ve seen women in black dresses and suits but they have them for work. A 14 year old doesn’t. They can certainly wear dark red, navy, muted greens, greys. muted patterns and a plain coat. All of which can be worn again. Don’t get something black which won’t see the light of day again.
