Oh my woolly word!

The Sol de Janeiro body cream from the JL box smells divine. But the price!!

psuedocream3 · 28/03/2026 09:45

@Cyclingmummy1 Boots have 25% off sol de janiero at the moment, advantage card usually has a 10% off an over £25 spend. And a points offer over a certain spend. If you go through vouchercodes it also counts as 1 of the VIP shops (2 VIP shops earns you a £5 voucher) and a free £5 voucher on top of that if you spend £60+. My teens love SDJ but I try not buy unless I can get it down to around 40-50% off.

Willow742 · 28/03/2026 11:59

Am I right in thinking you only get 1 of the £10 fragrance vouchers from Cult Beauty no matter how many samples orders you do?

IlovePond · 28/03/2026 12:12

That’s right @Willow742

Thelifeofawife · 28/03/2026 12:44

I received my small body wash from SNK today - can’t believe I paid £6.40 for it (discounted) 🤣
Annoyingly, they replaced my Diptyque fragrance sample for the Ellis Brooklyn one.
I was tempted to return the order given the size of the body wash, but I suppose it will be handy for trips away (a weekend 😅)

That was the case for me.

Thelifeofawife · 28/03/2026 12:54

Oh, the issue I had with the irritation near my eye, it’s still not cleared up! I have tried all sorts. I know there was one product that was suggested which I haven’t tried yet, I think it was @OvaHere that suggested it, but I can’t remember what it was 😌
It seems to settle a bit then flare up again. I’ve eliminated everything and started adding things back into my routine, but still can’t pin point what’s causing it

Cyclingmummy1 · 28/03/2026 13:00

Thanks @psuedocream3 that's more the price point I was thinking. I have double points this month so combined with recycling points i might be tempted.

Sorry I can't remember what it was either (if it was me).

Same for me too, though I did also get a £5 Kayali voucher because I added one of the Kayali sample sets to one of my samples orders.

I had this last year and niacinamide was the culprit.

Doglover73 · 28/03/2026 14:06

My skin doesnt like niacinamide either. I thought i was the only one. Its in loads of products.
My dd really irritated near the eyes the other week. Shes using votary balm that was in liberty box a bit ago. Has also been in a ch kit. It works but still slightly red x

Peachbubble · 28/03/2026 14:50

My skin has also decided it doesn't like Niacinamide, so I'm now having to check every product before I buy, plus go through my stash and sell any culprits. Trouble is Niacinamide is supposed to sooth the skin, so is added to loads of stuff!
The only cream that has helped my irritated skin, even around my eyes, is Dr Althea 147 barrier cream.

AncoraAmarena · 28/03/2026 15:22

It's quite a common trigger apparently. I too check everything, at least it helps whittle my wishlist down!

CB has 30% off the votary balm www.cultbeauty.co.uk/p/votary-super-barrier-balm-cica-and-prebiotic-30ml/17631848/

Thelifeofawife · 28/03/2026 16:37

Thanks everyone! If it’s a known irritant then that’s probably it, I’ll check through my current products to see what it’s in. I’m actually a bit gutted as I’ve bought soooo much stuff (multiples of each thing too) so if it’s that then it’ll no doubt have quite an impact on my stash.

Thanks for the recommendations to help clear it too! I’ll take a look 😊

The new Lisa Eldridge lip/blush stick is gorgeous. More pigmented and creamy than Merit. Great value for the price I think, especially if it ends up eligible for offer codes

TragicMuse · 28/03/2026 17:01

I’ve just been teaching my mum about serum+active+SPF! And K beauty!

I nearly persuaded her into the Boots K beauty edit but she wants to try one thing at a time. So she’s bought a COSRX moisturiser spf cream.

I’m keep looking at the Boots edit for myself but I need to get my stash down and manageable. I do. I really do. Dammit!

I agree, really happy with mine. I ordered Cinnamon Bun yesterday and postie was early today so managed to use it and loved it so ordered Rose Madder this afternoon.

I also ordered the IT cosmetics tint balm thing and again am very impressed with it - much cheaper price than both the Dior stick and VBB drops. Could easily become my day to day foundation.

OvaHere · 28/03/2026 17:53

Despite what I said I ended up getting the LE balm. The double points tipped me into a £10 reward so in my head it was only £17.

It came earlier and I've tried it out but only on my bare face so far. I like it more than I thought, it's not tacky and it does work for both lips and cheeks. I think I'll take it away with me.

It is better than Merit which I'm not overly keen on. I got Hellibore (sp?) the one that looks like wine but translates to a cool pink.

Interestingly I read on a Reddit thread that bar one ingredient the LE balms are the same as these.
https://www.notino.co.uk/korres/natural-color-multi-stick-balm-multi-purpose-makeup-for-lips-and-face/p-16359238/

@MrsBnow12 I also read that the IT Cosmetics balm is the same product as a much loved Loreal one which used to be around £10 then Loreal, who own IT, pulled it and rebranded as IT charging more for it. Even though it's a great product quite a few people are upset. A bit naughty of Loreal but I wonder how often that happens with the big conglomerates when a drugstore product is a big hit and they realise they could re-market under one of their more luxury brands!

Space nk is telling me to spend £18 to get £10 ndulge points which will make £20.as i already have 10, aaargh they are good at getting you to spend. What can I get for around the £20 mark i wonder. Annoyingly the 20% off is no more.

If it's something for yourself what about one of the Naturium body washes at £19. I have the Glow Getter one which is nice. Big bottles too.

Big companies always buy up smaller rivals or potential competitors to remove threats, increase market share, or prevent innovation from competing products. Shut it down, control it and profit from it.

It pairs with the Pareto Principle, where 80% of the market, is owned by 20% of the companies

They win, we have less choice and more cost.

Thelifeofawife · 28/03/2026 19:55

Not sure if it’s already been mentioned but Allbeauty have a good sale on plus an extra 10% with code TREAT
They have a good range of fragrances in the offer too

Cyclingmummy1 · 28/03/2026 20:35

Put 7 unwanted items from the beauty boxes on Vinted this morning and have sold 3 plus 2 other non-beauty items that have been up for a while.
