Face cream similar to blue tin Nivea.

I love how the old blue tin Nivea feels on my skin. My skin can be tight and dry and Nivea provides instant relief.

But now that I’m learning about skincare, I can see it doesn’t have any ingredients that will improve my skin long term and that the strong fragrance is probably not great for it.

I’d tried a few other rich creams but nothing gives the same relief. Any suggestions?

Hi OP. Ingredients-wise, fook for rich creams with petrolatum or dimethicone as occlusives, glycerin and panthenol for hydration and soothing, and then crucially ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids which actually repair your skin barrier long-term instead of just sitting on top. The fragrance-free part is key because fragrance can irritate and dry out your skin even if it smells nice, so look for fragrance-free in the same rich cream texture category. You basically want that same occlusive, thick consistency, but with barrier-repairing ingredients doing the actual work underneath!

i really wanted to like this but didn't. Odd smell and strange texture. There was so much hype about it which convinced me to buy it.

For me personally, the Cerave moisturizing cream in a pot. Has ceramides etc, and is thicker and perfect for drier skin. Have used cerave for years now and I switch to this every winter.

Astral. I always found Nivea too difficult to rub in. The soft version is better but doesn’t have the iconic fragrance.

Try a different Nivea product? I find this one comforting on dry/tight skin and it has anti aging properties.

Aqueous cream is an emollient for washing with.

This Aldi cream is like magic. It fixes my eczema on my elbows, works great as a night cream, and I also use as a hand cream

I love Nivea moisturiser i use the white tube and the blue tin at night if i have been out in the sun too long, i can't see why the ingredients would harm your skin "long term"

It won't harm her skin, it just isn't active beyond the moisturiser effect.

OP, keep your favorite moisturiser and add in serums line a pp upthread mentioned. I only add in niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, that's after a balm cleanser washed off with water and followed by glycolic acid. I always had dry skin, this routine sorted that out.

I'll second this! One of the best creams I've tried. It's like Superdrug's posh range! Very reasonably priced and does wonders for my skin!

The Nivea soft is amazing. I’ve converted loads of people to it.
Also the Superdrug vitamin E range is all fantastic and really cheap. Love the serum, leave on mask and the oil.

Isn't most of the face cream stuff hype? Years ago there was a comparison done between ingredients in Nivea and Creme de la Mer. There was very little difference!

I prefer Nivea soft. I'd use serums etc along side your Nivea if you need more targeted or active skin care, you haven't said what your skin care concerns are.
