A truly clump free mascara

I am looking for the holy grail of mascaras. Is there such a thing as a truly clump free mascara? I have tried so many and even if they start out looking promising, after a week or so they all seem to go clumpy. I just want a mascara that goes on nice and smoothly, I get my lashes lifted so I am not bothered about height or volume or lift etc, just something to emphasise my lashes. Anyone found one? I don’t mind paying! (Desperate 😂)

Refy mascara. Very good. And I love how thin and bendy the wand is, like a curved comb.

I swear by Maybelline Sky High mascara. Have used all sorts over the years (including likes of Lancôme and Dior) and this is my favourite - and affordable!

Thank you, I think I did use this for a while, not sure why I stopped, maybe I will give it another go

I like this too. It's a tubing mascara, so.much less clumpy and it stays in place well throughout the day.

Thank you

I do like refy, but also Tarte Tubing mascara - it keeps so smooth and clump free (until about 3 months in when it’s ready to be binned and a new one brought in). Either the XL or the little one! I do find if it hasn’t been shut properly a drop or two of hot water in helps loosen the formula up again.

I’ve just bought Ilia Limitless Lash Mascara and I really happy with it.

As soon as it goes clumpy just boil your kettle, cool for a few mins and then dip your wand in the water. Turns your mascara back to smooth and fluid.

newyorkbreakfast · 24/02/2026 17:31

I’ve tried loads of mascaras, from cheap to premium and the only one I find any good is Max Factor This is a Boots link but it’s cheaper on Amazon

Clinique high impact mascara and L’Oréal panorama both don’t clump and easy to remove.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 24/02/2026 18:27

Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes. It's brilliant.

I love the Barry M tubing mascara. Can’t remember what it’s called off the top of my head but it’s a pink tube.

goz · 24/02/2026 18:36

I think the only type of mascara that goes on without clumping are the ones with the lengthening plastic spikey brushes. I use the benefit badgal bang/ max factor masterpiece and L’Oréal telescopic and they’re all this type.
Method of application is important thought, always dab off the wand imo and curl the want from the base to the tip of the lash - rotating the wand while pulling up. This ensures there isn’t an oversaturation of product.

I agree

I use this - not only is it clump free, it stays put without budging until you take it off - brilliant mascara IMO. www.primeprometics.com/products/mascara

Seconded. Ilia mascara is lovely. No sign of clumping at all, and it doesn't smudge either.

I also have one from UK Lash. It goes on well, no clumping, but I can't get it off! My face just gets covered in black bits.

Is this to clean the wand , or add some moisture to the mascara, or is it the warmth that does the trick? I want to try this!

The smoothest I've ever had was Neal's Yard, don't think they make it any more though sadly.
