A very dear friend of mine passed away very suddenly recently, we’re going to his funeral in a week. I think this dress is suitable? He was my age and pretty chilled as a person. 🖤

Yes it looks perfect. So sorry for the loss of your friend

Theraininspainishere · 22/02/2026 12:10

It’s fine

notacooldad · 22/02/2026 12:10

Absolutely.
Im sorry for your loss.

Wordless · 22/02/2026 12:14

My condolences.

The dress is fine, but try to remember that your friend’s parents and grandparents (if present) will be feeling extremely sombre and this might not be the moment to demonstrate how chilled you are.

Add a jacket, perhaps?

Berlinlover · 22/02/2026 12:15

You look fine. Sorry about the loss of your friend x

DaisyMayBojangles · 22/02/2026 12:15

Friends parents are no longer alive, of course I will be wearing a jacket.

Weird comment

Why? What’s wrong with it? It looks like a pretty conservative dress to me in its shape.

DaisyMayBojangles · 22/02/2026 12:17

Isn’t it? You wonder if some people actually think how their words land.

Perfectly appropriate op. So sorry for the loss of your friend, he must have been so young 🥺

Callalilly2016 · 22/02/2026 12:19

I’m sorry for your loss. The dress is lovely and appropriate. I hope it goes well on the day.

DaisyMayBojangles · 22/02/2026 12:21

Thank you for the kind words, he was early 50’s and had a massive coronary, no warning..it was horrific.

Im sorry @DaisyMayBojangles.

Yes your dress is perfectly fine.

Thisseasonsdiamante · 22/02/2026 12:26

It is absolutely fine for a funeral. I am very sorry for your loss.

but try to remember that your friend’s parents and grandparents (if present) will be feeling extremely sombre and this might not be the moment to demonstrate how chilled you are.

This quote is an exceptional example to remind people that you simply can never know when you just existing as an individual person will bring up random emotions in another person that have absolutely nothing to do with you, as somehow happened with the person commenting here.

The notion that you would be able to control how other people are going to react to you, particularly at a funeral when emotions run high is just not possible. You just have to be able to respond to people as they come in situations.

I think it’s perfect OP, sorry for your loss.

(and not the point of the thread at all but if you’re 50ish, you look amazing - love your style!)

I would have put you mid 20s.

Love the dress. I am sorry for the loss of your friend. Thanks

Why? It’s a conservative dress and black (I rarely wear black to a funeral nowadays anyway).

Seagullsandsausagerolls · 22/02/2026 16:29

Your dress is perfect. (You have fabulous taste anyway I've room envy).

Bristolandlazy · 22/02/2026 16:31

Dress is perfect, you don't need a jacket.. You could wear a cardigan or whatever you want with it. It's fine as it is.

Sorry for your loss 💐

Isitreallyworthitnow · 22/02/2026 16:34

OP, not the point of the thread but I thought you were in your 20s from the photo. Sorry for the loss of your friend.

gototogo · 22/02/2026 16:35

It’s fine, so sorry for your loss. I would check with next of kin organising it that they do want black, if a younger person in my experience often there’s a theme, messed up when apparently it was dress in green and I hadn’t got the message. I’ve seen dress in football shirts in the past and (memorable for its oddness) come as your favourite character from the sound of music, I organise funerals so I attend quite a few .

take care op, it’s tougher somehow once it’s your generation
