This dress ok for a funeral?

A very dear friend of mine passed away very suddenly recently, we’re going to his funeral in a week. I think this dress is suitable? He was my age and pretty chilled as a person. 🖤

It’s lovely

Giddykiddy · 22/02/2026 16:40

That's so sad - the dress is perfect for the occasion. So sorry for your loss

AquaLeader · 22/02/2026 16:43

Wordless · 22/02/2026 12:14

My condolences.

The dress is fine, but try to remember that your friend’s parents and grandparents (if present) will be feeling extremely sombre and this might not be the moment to demonstrate how chilled you are.

Add a jacket, perhaps?

What an odd comment.

Londonmummy66 · 22/02/2026 16:43

Its absolutely fine. I'm sorry about your friend.

Is this a comment/ dig at the OP's tattoos?

Most probably 🙄

None of my friends or their families would be judgy about tattoos, maybe it’s just me but I thought we were a bit past all that in 2026. I’m sure everyone there will be far too busy grieving the loss of someone suddenly in his early 50’s.

Thank you for the kind words everyone. This year has had a rotten start. My main concern is being there to support his partner of 22 years as she is still in massive shock at what has happened 😞

Sorry for your loss, OP 💐

Your tattoos are lovely, and so is your dress with boots. My granny grew up and lived her life behind the Iron Curtain, in soviet-occupied country, and is very conservative in her views. And even she got used to people (me included) with tatts.

Your dress is perfectly appropriate for the funeral, and no, you don't need a jacket if you don't want one. Disregard that idiotic comment.

DaisyMayBojangles · 22/02/2026 19:27

Thank you..my mum who is in her late 80’s only realised I had tattoos a few years back! Having always had a real hate for them, I decided it best to just cover them to avoid upsetting her. She discovered I had quite a few by accident via a FB post! I thought she was going to go mad, but actually was fascinated with them and actually said how colourful and pretty they were!

I was genuinely baffled by the weird comment as it didn’t even cross my mind that it was the tattoos she was referring to. Hardly an issue to anyone in this day & age 💐

Glitchymn1 · 22/02/2026 21:38

Sorry for your loss, the dress is appropriate x

rainbowruthie · 22/02/2026 21:43

So sorry for your loss and sending you strength to help his partner at this sad time

StrongLikeMamma · 22/02/2026 21:47

Looks fine. Sorry for your loss 💖

BeautifulBrackets · 22/02/2026 21:48

I'd check if black is expected, unless that's what you'd choose anyway. Funeral dress codes are less rigid now. The only funeral I've been to recently had only one person in black. People were well-dressed: styles varied considerably but everyone made an effort to look good.

Thecows · 22/02/2026 23:17

Love it and love your style. I'm a black dress and DM's girl all the way too, so so sorry about your friend x

Iwantsandybeachesandgoodfood · 22/02/2026 23:21

Sorry for your loss @DaisyMayBojangles
I hope the day goes as smoothly as it can. The dress is perfect by the way.

Arlanymor · 22/02/2026 23:24

Dress is entirely appropriate.

Judgey nonsense about tattoos is not!

So sorry for your loss, I hope you are doing ok. Grief is so rough.

(Dare I say I love your fruit salad hair! Sorry was born in 1979 so those colours are fused in my brain as fruit salad sweets!)

FortyFacedFuckers · 22/02/2026 23:24

So sorry for your loss OP!
you look great and the dress is perfect, ignore that extremely weird comment!

What an odd thing to say.

OP, it’s a lovely and very appropriate dress. Really sorry for your loss xx

DaisyMayBojangles · 23/02/2026 07:40

Thank you again all for the kind comments. It’s going to be a very difficult day 😞
@ArlanymorI always say my hair reembles a pick and mix! I’m a ‘73 and was also a big Fruit Salad fan! 🍬

You Look gorgeous ! .. and more importantly sound gorgeous inside.
I am sorry for the loss of your friend.
i am impressed that your hair matches your bedspread.. this is a whole new level of stylishness.

DaisyMayBojangles · 23/02/2026 21:56

Aw thanks @LunaTheCat💕. I wish I could say I deliberately match my hair to my soft furnishings as a rule 😂. I have been through many hair colours over the years and my house is very colourful 🌈🦄

My friend has tattoos like yours, I really like them and they look great on her and you.

Echoing the others, many condolences 💐.

EconomyClassRockstar · 24/02/2026 00:49

I mean, it's a pretty normal black dress. Of course it's fine!

caringcarer · 24/02/2026 02:53

A good choice.

PeonyBulb · 24/02/2026 21:34

It’s absolutely fine. Wear it for sure
