I’m trying to be more consistent
deffo have some adhd traits

so I can swing from one day glam to the next day homeless look

so what I’m trying to do is draw up some minimum standards
so hair washed every other day
bath or shower everyday

feet mosturised

skins care
my whole routine atm is face wash
advanced night repair
then Estée Lauder
sumpreme moisturiser

but I’ve neglected doing this for months

should I be improving this skin routine ?

id like to try fake tan
so I’ve just bought some tan luxe drops

which I’m going to try either sunday night or Monday

I’ve gone through periods of nail biting but I’ve managed to stop again
so they are looking the best they’ve done. In ages
so I don’t know if I’m gonna use gel polish at home
or sally hansen hard as nails
just to strengthen them ?

any other ideas you can add to this ?
or what do too do for yourself ?
how to do make yourself so this ?
any tips on being Consistant

I’ve just binned a jumper I don’t like
wasn’t sure if I liked it when I got it in the sale
and the colour didn’t suit me

so maybe I need to get a few new bits for my wardrobe and sort though my accessories

What tan do you use?
In the winter do you just do the face?

I do the gradual garnier moisturiser in dark, and then their aerosol tan over the top where the sun hits. Maybe every other application I will do more of a full body session to feel nicer in myself and then in between I do arms, chest, face, and feet if I have daintier shoes on.
It’s not a full on fake tan look, it ends up being really natural and makes makeup lighter and quicker. It’s like a ‘high maintenance thing to look low maintenance’.

I've just been on this journey after my '2 under 2s' finally became 2 and nearly 4.

My new baseline is:
Short but neat nails (huge improvement after being a chronic nail biter) with a clear pinkish polish.

Hair is washed everyday and blow dried most days unless I'm going to the gym.
Skin care every day
A glowy primer on my face, a little brozer and eyebrows done.

Eyebrows get threaded every 8 weeks ish

Pair of earrings (Huggies - I just leave them in all the time)

Ohh I've not heard of doing that tanning combo before so do you spray the spray over, the skin when you've but the lotion on, when it's still wet or do you wait till it dries then layer up ?

This made me laugh, I have such a range of appearances and homeless is definitely one! I don’t like to be seen without mascara on so that look is limited to the gym or a morning run. Otherwise my WFH look can be very scruffy if I’m not venturing out in the evening as I might go for leggings and a hoodie, but I’m always clean (well my body and face are, if I’m working out two days in a row I don’t bother with hair wash and just shove it up in a bun with dry shampoo).

On a “normal” day if I’m doing the school run and then WFH, or meeting a friend for coffee etc, I tend to have clean and styled hair (blow dried straight, not exciting) mascara, concealer under eyes and on blemishes, touch of blusher. Tend to wear jeans and a sweater/jumper/t shirt and cardi, with trainers or boots. If I’m going into the office I do a full face - BB cream or foundation and like to dress smart casual so no jeans - wide leg trousers, a dress or skirt and smart tops. I don’t do heels though so usually boots again.

What Full body moisturiser do you use ? That would eb a good one for me to add and body skin is much drier these days
One I'm almost out of is the elemis body oil, but youhabe to melt it in warm water so its a bit of a pain

I don't even have any yoga pants, and I want some for home, wheres a good place for them
I'm only 5ft4

I use Palmers Cocoa Butter Firming lotion. Cheap as chips, get it from Amazon. It is really good! I also buy my yoga pants from Amazon. I find the ones with a wide waist band and an ankle band but a baggier leg the most comfortable.
I used to use Fabletics but they discontinued my favourite ones.

For me I would say the simpler you can keep it the more likely you are to be consistent and set routines up for yourself for example I keep certain things by the sink in the bathroom and certain things on my night stand as it prompts me to use them whereas if I had to go looking then I'd forget.

I got a work capsule wardrobe which stays hung up and it takes away decision fatigue over what to wear.

I wash my hair every 3/4 days - 1st is down, second down with dry shampoo, 3rd up in a pony and 4th is up in a bun with dry shampoo and the flyaway gelled down. Makeup very minimal and tbh I don't bother with fake tan as I know I'd never keep on top of it.

I either commit to getting my nails done or keeping them polish free but nicely filed.

Couple of times a week I use an led face mask and sometimes will whiten my teeth at the same time.

I wash every day and shower every other day even if I'm not washing my hair as it wouldn't need it just as often.

I got a few nice perfumes some cheaper for every day and then a couple of nice ones for special occasions.

I got myself a nice coat for work and I'm going to get a nice casual coat for every day running about and I try to keep my clothes and shoes in good condition.

I think I'm adhd leaning but no diagnosis either and I find if I try to do too much it becomes really counter productive so I try to build in some small habits first and then add to them once they're established and I've had more success with that.

I agree re consistency and keep it small. Skincare I personally don’t think needs to be complicated. A good cleanser and a moisturiser, just do it every morning and evening, double cleanse in the evening if wearing make up.

What do you to whiten your teeth?
And does the led face mask work

I'm thinking of getting one of them

What is your skincare ?
Glad to hear you starting to find a bit of time for yourself now too

PM I use Dr Jart Dermaclear face wash in the evening followed by Beauty Pie Amazing Sleep Oil.

AM I use a flannel with warm water to cleanse and then Beauty Pie Japanfusion Mist and Embryolisse Lair Creme Concentre.

I exfoliate a couple of times a week with Beauty Pie Wonderscrub.

That's it! Beauty Pie is well worth it if you need a shake up, I've not had a bad product yet.

Thank you for your advice I'm so curious what this perfume is ?
Yes it's just the basics I need to work on
And just try to be consistent

marc jacobs daisy 🌸I have been wearing it for years so my ex MIL isn't wrong in that sense, heavier perfumes made my morning sickness much worse though and this one seemed to be ok so it is still in my make up bag

in terms of body lotion, I have zero time/inclination but I do use vaseline spray after swimming or a bath bc my skin dries out so badly in winter

you could add a silk pillowcase/satin bonnet, my hair (whats left of it!!) is better for it...a little less breakage

catipuss · 21/02/2026 20:49

Doesn't sound like you ever look homeless, ie, grimy, dirty, scruffy clothes. You are sometimes a bit less polished than others, which really isn't that important unless you turn up to a very important meeting on the downward side, which I guess you wouldn't.

Anotherwine · 21/02/2026 20:51

Minimum -

nails done
moisturiser
face skin care routine daily
hair brushed and styled
lip oil
eyebrow tint
mascara ( tinted moisturiser also even better)
“Nice” casual clothes for when CBA - no fluffy jumpers or stained / stretched loungewear
decenf underwear
stud earrings
