Free way to do your colours??

Is there anything online that will help me work out what my colours are?? Not keen on paying hundreds to be draped in fabric

I’ve tried a couple of the apps and they’re rubbish tbh

FusionChefGeoff · 18/02/2026 22:08

Mmmm not a very positive start 🤣. I kind of see why they’d be rubbish as colours on screen are often wildly different to real life. But I’m ever hopeful that the advent of the internet will have meant that some entrepreneurial spirit has found a free or at least much much cheaper way to DIY your own colours instead of paying mega bucks for a ‘highly trained consultant’

Chat GPT.

FusionChefGeoff · 18/02/2026 22:11

How would I prompt it?? Or would a decently lit photo of me work?

Barrellturn · 18/02/2026 22:11

Yes chatgpt. I paid for a colour analysis online a few years ago. I didn't find it hugely convincing and uploaded the same info to chatgpt and it moved me from needing pastels to jewel tones. I immediately looked better!

I got mine done by Style me happy, think it was £35 and I’ve found it really useful.

Abracadabra1 · 18/02/2026 22:18

Style me happy is really reasonable, around £40

omg I just googled this, it looks amazing

Overtheatlantic · 18/02/2026 22:28

ChatGPT was great for me. I uploaded a photo and it did the colour analysis with recommendations for outfits, best hairstyles, etc

Thesummer · 18/02/2026 22:29

Chat gpt for sure

cramptramp · 18/02/2026 22:30

ChatGPT worked for me.

Goonyoucanaskme · 18/02/2026 22:43

Photos are no good, the colours change.
Judge it by eye perhaps wtih the help of a friend who has good colour sense. Hold up different colours in front of your face - unmade up and with your hair covered if you dye or highlight it - and see what makes you look healthiest and prettiest. Start with bright white v cream to see whether you have cool or warm skin tone.

BunnyOnTheOnion · 18/02/2026 23:12

Chat GPT... no idea if it's correct though! I've tried it with a few different photos and got fairly consistent results though. Shame as it tell me to avoid some of my favourite colours 😆 it's hard to be an edgy rock goth when it tells me I suit pastels and grey/ taupe 😆

beasmithwentworth · 18/02/2026 23:18

Another vote for style me happy. Emily and her team are fantastic.

Ohhhh that's interesting! So you're a soft summer or spring then pp? That sounds tricky to merge with your aesthetic, was there anything you could adapt?

myladyjane · 19/02/2026 09:02

My expert style me happy was that I got exactly the same output as chat gpt. I was massively disappointed and when I complained and said how disappointed i was I got no follow up at all, just ignore other than a thanks for your feedback type email.

I’d start with the AI and see how you go

myladyjane · 19/02/2026 09:02

Experience not expert!

Chat gp has me down as a soft summer. I'm alternative/goth and was just considering neon green in my hair which apparently is my must avoid colours 🙈 not sure how I'm going to embrace pastel/soft muted in my everyday clothes.

EmmaStone · 19/02/2026 11:32

I've been 'diagnosed' a jewel winter twice by real life people. Just tried ChatGPT who diagnosed soft summer. But when I clarified what colous work best for me, it changed its tune to winter toned.

ForPinkDuck · 19/02/2026 11:35

You tube. Also look up pics of celebs with the same colouring as you.

IsItAllMenopause · 19/02/2026 11:52

Echo what PP says. There must be a celeb with same colouring as you...look what they are and what suits them.

Parsleyforme · 19/02/2026 13:35

I just used ChatGPT and asked it to create a chart of my best colours so I could see them. It added a realistic AI portrait of me but she’s younger and prettier than me 😭 so I wasn’t very pleased with that 🙈

RipePeach · 19/02/2026 13:58

Style me Happy is amazing and very reasonable (£40 now I think). You definitely get your moneys worth and I would recommend going to her rather than trying to do it yourself. There is a Style Me Happy Community page on Facebook. Free to join and it will give you a good idea about colour analysis etc.

Another vote for Chat GPT - really helped me revamp my wardrobe, jewellery and make up

I'm an aging rock chick, so all silver jewellery and a solid black wardrobe. I really do not want to hear I should be in pastels so I am avoiding the whole thing!
