Has anyone ever found the mythical ‘slim but not skinny’ jeans?

I’ve been on a search for these for months….narrow in the leg but not skinny.
So not clinging to legs, wrinkling at the knees etc but not loose/baggy either. Neat fitting.
Preferably not high waisted.
Minimal stretch (see ‘wrinkling at the knees’j.

I’ve tried New Look, M&S, Zara, Uniqlo, Mango.
I’ve tried sizing up and sizing down.
‘Straight leg’ or ‘Mom’ jeans are too baggy/loose. ‘Slim leg ‘ jeans are too skinny fit.
I tried the M&S Lily jeans after reading reviews on MN but they were…skinny. Just with a wider ankle. (As another MN poster had said). I sized up…still skinny (just loose on the waist and weirdly flappy at the ankle).

It’s a myth isn’t it?

Have you tried M&S Harper?

I would go to TKMaxx and just try on anything you like the look of. They'll have loads of different brands but at least they organise them by size so you can just grab loads to try on.

No. I've seen them on other people, lots of times. I've realised it's not the jeans that are the problem. It's my legs.

Harper are great, but sadly they come with a stupid turn up now, so if you wear them with black chunky boots you look like a far right thug.

Following as I need a replacement for Harper!

Bershka straight fit or Levi 501 maybe.
I think it might just be a case of trying loads on to see what fits best. I’ve got some barrel leg jeans that I love and think look great on me but every other pair I’ve tried look awful.

Levi’s. But depending on your shape could be any number of different styles. I like a 512, straight narrow not skinny leg and not high waisted - more mid rise. The holy grail of jeans for me.

Is that not just......... Jeans? Regular leg. Not skinny, or flared, or boot-cut or boyfriend just... Jeans?

I got some from Asda the other week.

Mine are long and slim but I still can't find the ones I think look right.

I have short chunky legs so I buy cropped mum or boyfriend jeans and they look like slim jeans on me 😆

I have very old (pre the skinny trend) ones from Gap and also a pair from FatFace. Have you tried either of those shops? Also, maybe uniqlo?

MissCoo - that’s just it - none seem to look just ‘normal’ on me.

I have a couple of pairs similar to Minipies post for example - one cropped, one full length - they’re great jeans but they’re not narrow/slim leg.

It’s the slightly tailored look I’m after - I’ve read a couple of fashion articles that suggest non stretch is better. Levi’s might be the way forward as at least they have less stretchy styles.
Doesn’t help that I’m smaller and at 5ft, shorter than average so in some brands (that don’t do a true size 6-8) the waist is nearly at my bust or the crotch is half way down my thighs….

Museum - I think you’re right re there used to be less stretchy styles around. I’ve had great jeans from Uniqlo decades ago that were perfect and that I now wish I’d kept.

Exactly - it all depends on your own shape. What would be loose around the thighs for some, would be tighter fitting for me.

How about the Next jeans, the 'slim' ones rather than skinny or bootcut. I have quite large calves so found these suited me better than skinny jeans but were still quite fitted.

The slim, lift and shape ones are lovely, I've worn them for years in slim and boot cut.

Levi’s 314 or 312 are what you are looking for!

Cigarette jeans. I think Uniqlo do them

I still wear some jeans from the Jil Sander-Uniqlo collab (+J) around 2020. They're narrow but not skinny and loose on the thigh. I would imagine they're still findable on Vinted / Ebay.

I've also kept some from Whistles that are skinny but again relaxed on the thigh. They're at least 10 years old though and I don't know what they called them so they're probably harder to track down.

I had some in the noughties (still have, in the attic!) so you might be best trying vintage? They were either Warehouse or Miss Selfridge, but there must be a few brands from that time period.

I've got some Next stovepipe recently. They are worth a try maybe? Or maybe too baggy?

This was me for years, hunting for the perfect straight leg tailored jeans! Randomly found them last year and bought a few pairs of each and in black and blue in case they stop making them 🤣 Jack Wills Stella jeans, they do them on the sports direct website at a ridiculously low offer price (don’t let that put you off!) They also do 3 lengths so if you have shorter legs you should be able to get a good fit, just sitting on the ankle.
