Shopping my wardrobe in 2026

I have committed to a buying break (no clothes in 2026) and feel miserable already 🤦‍♀️.
I’m starting this thread to cheer myself up and rediscover the clothes I already own. I have been tracking CPW for all my clothes for several years but recently it has become automatic and boring.

I would like to rediscover the joy of putting outfits together, instead of buying new things first and then figuring out how they fit together! Also being more mindful about what I wear and how I feel about it.

I use an app called Stylebook to organise my clothes, it helps but I don’t think it’s necessary. If anyone wants to join me, great 😊.

This is what I wore today:

Dog walking & elderly parental sitting/cleaning duties this week. And yet more rainy grey chilly weather....

Love your gilet and the outfit with coordinated burgundy pieces 👌 @Cantonet

We’ve had snowstorms for a couple of days now. It actually feels great, finally the cold drought is over.

Had a slow day at home today and a lovely walk in the snow.
My coat is from 1960s and I love it so much.

Two for today, one at home, the second one for a walk in the snow.

That's a beautiful coat you were wearing yesterday @CortieTat.Wearing this today. We've had another day of chilly monsoon weather. I'm so sick of it.

@Cantonet your bag is beautiful, I love blue accessories! It works well with the rest. The wrap top is great, it’s something I can’t wear (I have mainly fresh air at the front, even when breastfeeding)

We’ve had fantastic weather today, beautiful sun, crisp freezing air. Amazing.

Had some indoorsy clothes today, added some more wool for a walk in the forest. The coat is a babywearing coat with an extra opening on the back.

You choose clothes in such lovely colour palettes.

Thank you very much! I don’t think much about it, I just go with what makes me feel good.

I watch the Olympic Games every day so I think my vintage tank is very appropriate for the occasion.

Brilliant tank @CortieTat.
I adore your burgundy & soft blue ensemble 💙
I've really not been wearing anything of note until today. I really like the cream & the brown jacket. I was determined not to wear my winter coat so layered up with thermals & a gilet under a wool jacket. Have to change for the dog walk though as cream is not a good option with all the mud around.

@Cantonet the bag is amazing! I love how you repeated the darker and lighter colours on your scarf. 👌

This is my outfit for today, the 1980s tank is in the wash.

I was at the hairdresser today so wore an old hoody and everything else was easy to wash. It’s difficult to pluck tiny hair bits from knitwear.

Today’s outfit. It’s getting much colder again, we have well over -10 tonight.

Beautiful day today, cold but sunny. The bag is uncomfortable to carry on one shoulder, after the whole day of walking my upper back hurts.

Yesterday's outfit for lunch and Wuthering Heights with friends for Galentines. I know the movie's not getting great reviews but we all loved it.

I hope your back is feeling better now, @CortieTat Is that the scarf you made? It really is lovely.

Is this just two people talking to each other?

Whowhatwerewolf · 15/02/2026 12:55

More than two. It’s serving its purpose for those of us taking part.

CortieTat · 15/02/2026 21:21

@Whowhatwerewolf yes, that’s the scarf. Must be nice to have trench weather wherever you are, beautiful outfit!

It’s still cold in here, and my winter boots started leaking water. I found a pair of Vondas that I bought in 2011. They work fine with thick socks.

I love your outfit @Cantonet! I love brown and your shoes are fantastic! I also live rurally and walk every day with a pram (I’m on maternity leave) but I am in Sweden so it’s -17 today.

I had to go to town today so ended up getting out my laptop tote from its dust bag. Otherwise very sensible outfit featuring lots of wool. I ended up wearing three different types of tweed so not as polished as it could be but I really like this version of myself.

That skirt and sweater are delicious!

Thank you! The skirt is made from an old piece of thick herringbone tweed and it’s very warm.

Got really excited today, after very cold night (-16) it was much warmer today. So I went for a walk with my youngest and ended up pushing the pram through the thick snow and wind 😅
It was a good workout though.

It’s for anyone who wants to join in. I think it’s a great idea. Although I’m not posting photos of my daily outfits looking at this thread is helping me curb my impulsive shopping habits by encouraging me to look and be content with what I already have.

CortieTat · 17/02/2026 22:32

@PeonyBlush10 I’m glad this thread is helping more people.

WFH today and a walk in the afternoon. It’s still cold but sunny.

@CortieTat lovely outfit - is that a Liberty scarf ? It’s beautiful. I check on this thread almost daily. It’s a great reminder that we need to shift our mindset regarding clothing consumption. I’m so preoccupied planning my next purchase I often forget to enjoy what I already have. Emma Edwards new book Wardrobe Project is helpful as is her podcast ‘Broke Generation’ She recommends a no buy year as a reset. Interesting to hear how this helped to change how she viewed her body and her relationship with clothing.
