Cord trousers?

I am looking for some comfy cord trousers. I have a few sensory issues with clothing, jeans are so uncomfortable and I currently live in dungarees as I hate tight things around my waist. I would love a pair of soft core trousers, ideally with a partially elasticated waist (at the back), ideally with legs I can roll up at the bottoms so wear with boots or trainers. I have seen a few pairs on pintrest but most are not available in UK. I like the ones from passenger clothing but they don’t have my size. Ideally I want to spend less than £50 but can’t stretch a bit further if need be. Ideally in khaki, green, maroon or mustard colour.

Does such a thing exist? Help 😊

The shoe combo! 🤭😅Makes me think of my old history teacher

😂😂 did we have the same history teacher?

Now I have too many to choose from. I might have to buy more than one pair or order a few pairs and keep the most comfortable ones.

I normally live in dungarees too because of the waist thing.
I've bought some cords from Sainsbury's for £22.50 and they are so very comfortable I am going back today to buy them in the other colour. Possibly too wide legged for you, but worth a look as they are like butter to wear.

I think these must be what I bought; mossy green and (boring) beige?
They are very good.
Size down.
Barrel legged.
I have them in both colours.
Very comfortable, quite good cord, and no hideous elastic waist.

Uniqlo barrel leg cords. They're really comfy

Be careful, or even better, avoid, an elasticated waist on cords; too bunchy, too unflattering, too uncomfortable, too much damned fabric.

That's them @venus7 . They are so comfortable. I love the green ones best.

The green are gorgeous....wearing them as we speak. Very good for gardening, as don't restrict movement. Though my stiff back may!

I've been wearing the green ones all day. You're right, they'll be excellent for gardening especially has they have a nice high waist to avoid the chilly builders' bum gap.

Seasalt are great with elastic at the back and buttons at the side. You can get them at a reasonable price on Vinted.

Exactly that......and pockets for secateurs.
I feel very Vita Sackville West in baggy cords, Donegal jacket and battered hat; makes gardening.....especially at this time of year.....more bearable.

@venus7 We just need a garden like Sissinghurst now and we ARE her. Who'd have thought you could buy that feeling for £22.50 in Sainsbury's?

No one would! I am hoping my new, rather overgrown yet semi dead garden will be a mini Sissinghurst come July.....it will be full of lavender, roses and herbs.
I'll be wearing a battered Panama by then, naturally. And very well worn trousers.

I’m wearing the Passenger ones that you mention right now - I have them in 2 colours. They are on sale fo about £50 in a lot of different places online now, might be worth a hunt about. They are so comfy, totally fit what you’ve said you’re looking for and wash really well. I’d highly recommend them!

Another vote for Halara. Mine are super comfy, but size down if you're between sizes

clamshell24 · 07/01/2026 22:29

Wishingiwastracytutor · 07/01/2026 22:41

Another vote here for Lands End. I have a green pair which I bought before Christmas and I love them.

Wowsersbrowsers · 07/01/2026 23:56

Have you tried country clothing shops? I've seen some like that in various outdoor clothing shops and they're designed for farmers so will be absolutely bulletproof.

LancashireButterPie · 08/01/2026 13:56

Halara are fab.

MonkeyMonkeyUnderpants1 · 08/01/2026 14:01

Another vote for Halara. Their website looks quite scammy but everything I have got from there has been brilliant.
