Talk to me about hair toppers

I’ve been considering a hair topper for years and finally feel like I should pull the plug but they are so expensive and I’m struggling to justify it!

i am turning 40 this year and have had thin frizzy hair for as long as i can remember. I’ve worn clip in extensions since i was 18 years old and dabbled in all sorts of others since - halos, bonded, weaves and tapes.
I had a baby boy 6 months ago and the thought of wearing semi permanent extensions now seems quite the commitment (both physically and financially). I’m making do with using clip ins whenever I go somewhere but most days I just put what I have of my hair up. My hair isn’t awful but I hate it and have started losing more if it now I’m post partum. It doesn’t help that I hate the way I look just now with the weight gain from pregnancy. I’ve always took a lot of pride in my hair and it’s always something that’s made me feel confident (obviously when I’ve had my extensions in)
I’m currently on statutory maternity pay so the cost of a topper seems excessive but I do have money saved that I could just buy it. It just feels like such a selfish expense when I’ve not much money coming in. My husband and I are fine financially so we can afford it, guess I’m just really struggling to justify it!

For those that have toppers, are they worth it? Are they quick to put on and do they look as good as they do in all the videos you see online? Do you still have to dye your own hair? Do you have to dye the topper regularly?

if I do buy one, I know I’ll have to send around 1k for a decent one that doesn’t look fake

thanks in advance. I just want to start feeling and looking like myself again!

I'm curious also. I bought a very cheap one just to try out the concept and the problem is it pulls my own hair when I take it off and it causes some breakage. I don't know whether the expensive ones do this, though.
