For someone (me) who currently doesn’t wear any but wants one. Significant birthday so budget is generous. Silver, not chunky, non blingy, just something subtle but classy looking and goes with everything (I am very casual)

How about this one, OP?

I rather like this but know nothing of the brand.
Or something of a similar style to that

I choose classic and stay away from trends and fashion when investing jewellery. I enjoy wearing it knowing I have treated myself and it's timeless and ageless. I do buy fashion, but cheap and in my mind disposable.

I totally agree with that. I've always been very mindful with my spending, and for many years I only wore fashion jewelry. Ever since I bought my first wide-band diamond ring for myself, I've worn it every single day.

I’ve changed my mind and I think gold would actually suit me better. The hunt continues!

Have a look at mixed metal necklaces OP, I struggle to choose between silver and gold too as both look fine on me. Mixed metal works and it also pulls my look together if I wear eg gold earrings and my platinum rings.

Tilly sveas has already been mentioned upthread, they have lovely mixed metal stuff which I would classify as everyday but it’s expensive enough that it’s also in special treat category. I’m sure there are better value alternatives though.
