For someone (me) who currently doesn’t wear any but wants one. Significant birthday so budget is generous. Silver, not chunky, non blingy, just something subtle but classy looking and goes with everything (I am very casual)

I really love metier jewellery. I have a lot of their earrings and have tried the necklaces on but never had the budget to buy what I’d like to. I will one day! The jewellery is classic but so beautiful and a bit different to a lot of stuff out there. Most of it is yellow gold but they do white gold too, and the yellow gold is beautiful, quite pale and not too yellow for me and great if you wear both gold and silver.

How generous is generous in terms of budget?
I wear a gold Cartier necklace as my everyday, it comes in white gold too. It’s subtle but elegant.

PinkyPoo146 · 07/01/2026 21:48

Ps Alex Munroe does different length chains x

Is that the Cartier d’amour?
I’ve been looking at them.

I have the rainbow necklace and earrings and also the bumblebee pendant and earrings. They are so nice

I would go for something small and delicate, so easy to wear with everything, but with diamonds to make it special.

Something like this (although I’d go white gold): https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1086316295/?ref=share_ios_native_control

I have an Alex Monroe conker as me and DH always love conker picking on our Autumn holiday in U.K. I did change the necklace for a more substantial chain as I wasn’t confident the fine chain could withstand being worn 24/7 - I love it and it’s still beautifully shiny

Thanks will take a look. Budget to £800 or so

if i was you, i would budget £500 for necklace and get a nice bracelet or ring or even a new handbag with it. just a suggestion☺️

Christmascherry · 08/01/2026 07:28

Ah thanks. I rarely use handbags so I don’t think it would be worth it. The only jewellery I wear is a ring and a watch which were both expensive gifts so I just thought I’d get a nice necklace that goes well with those but is not as expensive.

I bought a lovely one in the post-xmas sales. It's a silver heart (small) on a dainty chain. It's Thomas Sabo (only £42 in the sale). Strangely it's not on their website.

purser25 · 08/01/2026 11:24

I would be tempted to buy an antique pendant ether Victorian Art Neuvo or Art Decco they are so timeless and dainty

Check out Tiffany’s Diamonds by the Yard. I have one made by a different jeweler and wear it every day. You pay a premium for the Tiffany name.

I’d seriously recommend looking at hand made items on Etsy. DH bought me a hand made silver necklace for my birthday last year. It’s plain, simple, but I love it more than any item of jewellery I’ve ever owned. It took me months to realise that it’s because it’s a one off artisan piec, crafted by hand and unique. You really can feel the artist in it.

Georg Jenson's fusion pendant.
