Help me complete my outfit: low key wedding, 50 something bride

Ok so following my previous thread, I have now got a lovely wool cream A line midi skirt. I now need a satiny/silky top and will wear this plus a wool coat and a nice cashmere wrap for our registry office wedding in the new year. It's all low key. Ideas for the top would be great. I am quite small and want something very slim fitting.

Maybe even consider a simple cashmere/mohair cardigan over this?

Looks like Daisysilk and Lilysilk seem to have loads but I have never heard of them and was a bit unsure about ordering.

Will look at reviews!

Thing is half our high street fashion is Chinese made anyway so that doesn't put me off as long as the quality is okay given the special occasion!

Likewise, I hadn't really looked at them much til now - but it's refreshing to see real silk & in different weights/finishes, as it's disappeared from lots of brands. Silk is always going to come from China etc anyway, but Daisysilk seems to have much better reviews - & the site doesn't have those annoying pop-ups!

Saying that Daisysilk seems like the better option - this one from Lilysilk is bloody lovely! The detail at the back!

Could you find a local seamstress to tailor a top you like? Show some of the pictures and ask?

EleanorMc67 · 04/12/2025 22:24

Very old Hollywood, fitted & asymmetric.

https://www.lilysilk.com/uk/product/asymmetrical-silk-blouse-with-puff-sleeves.html

But the description! Were they on drugs ...?!

"Asymmetry is another type of symmetry. The blouse is made of 100% mulberry silk which ensures the breathability and softness. Sculpted like the goddess of intellect and wisdom Phoebe, buttons at the left shoulder and slight pleats at the neckline slim the upper body and flatter the figure, emphasizing the female confidence. The color lily white remains classic, with puff sleeves and longer cuffs for a fresh, modern feel."

Wtf???!

The sequinned Sezanne one, or the silk with the fab buttons? Both lovely I think!

Love this from the front, but personally not keen on cut-out backs. But it is lovely.
