Help with what?

Both jeans look nice, the second pair fits better. The dress doesn't do anything for you. Maybe something with a belt and cap sleeves to draw the eye?

BringBackCatsEyes · 30/11/2025 18:48

Which jeans - the smaller or the larger? I like that the bigger one are slightly longer and a more relaxed fit. The others are fine (might shrink a bit I guess).
Bigger will need a belt.

Dress - for a couple of xmas dos. I don't dress up much, just want to look nice, not red carpet ready. For a better photos: see here
I wouldn't know what tights or shoes.

I do not have time to shop - event is on Friday. If the dress is no good I'll just wear what I wore last year.

the bigger jeans are too big. The others seem to fit but they swamp you a bit. The dress looks fine to me - your arms look great -although it’s also possibly slightly too big? It’s hard to tell. It defo needs an iron or steam but I like it.

Thank you. My sister says the same about the jeans.
I do have nice arms - look good in a halter neck. Next size down would likely be too short.

The first jeans are simply too big for you. The dress could be a simple base as an outfit but you’ll need to accessorise the hell out of it.

Jk987 · 30/11/2025 20:24

The neckline of the dress is too high. There’s no interesting features to the outfit.
The jeans look too big. I’d go for straight legged, not wide.

Blunt but fair enough. Thanks

I like the bigger jeans, for the length. There's not much room to manoeuvre on the length if the smaller pair shrink.

It's hard to tell with the dress. It's not a great photo. I suspect you might need to size down.

Blondiney · 30/11/2025 22:49

Bigger jeans are better, they sit lower and slouchier giving more length in the legs.

Blondiney · 30/11/2025 22:50

Like the dress a lot, it's simple and striking.

Thanks. I think I prefer the bigger jeans. I am pretty tall (5' 8") so even though they're quite loose I think I can pull it off.
I have another pair in black which are a very similar fit and I wear them loads.

re the dress, it's a small, I'd have to order the XS online (I got the one in the photo in-store and I can't get back). Honestly though - the sizing is mad. I am tall and slim, but not XS - it makes me wonder what smaller women are buying,

The smaller jeans are too short IMO, once you get shoes on they will be flapping around but the bigger pair are too bag on the waist and hips. ou could do better with a completely different pair. Dress is ok but nothing special and looks a bit cheap. You have a lovely figure so I'm sure you could find a beautiful dress to show it off.

IncessantNameChanger · 01/12/2025 08:47

The longer jeans will be soaking up the rain if you wear them out over the winter. Amy jeans touch the floor in the UK are a bad idea imo for this reason

Doggymummar · 01/12/2025 09:01

The second pair of jeans are too short and the dress is dull but with loads of accessories will be a good base for an outfit

That did sound blunt sorry! You’ve got a great figure so don’t swamp it! A long, shiny or sparkly necklace would enhance the dress along with some heels.

With shoes (chunky trainers) they’ll (just) be ok, but I don’t tend to wear my loose leg trousers in the rain anyway.
Too long is better than too short, especially for taller women imo.

Fair enough. I find my jeans that just sit perfectly on my trainers and boots get looser and looser as the day goes on and they end up dragging. I hate getting home and finding my jeans are soaked up to the back of my knees. But I'm out and about on the school run so out in all weather

bizkittt · 04/12/2025 09:19

You have a lovely figure and none of these outfits do you any favours. They all look several sizes too big. The dress looks like a shapeless rag.

They really aren't several sizes too big, I think that is the style - loose rather than form fitting.

Or maybe I've just got terrible body dysmorphia.

I don't want to sound like an idiot, but what's the issue with wearing looser style clothing? The dress doesn't swamp me - a smaller size would not fit around the arms.

I wouldn't say the dress swamps you. It's very shapeless. Both too short and too baggy.

Oversized is the look currently, much more youthful than trotting around in some bodycon dress or spray on jeans!
