I don't want to sound like an idiot, but what's the issue with wearing looser style clothing? The dress doesn't swamp me - a smaller size would not fit around the arms.

I prefer the bigger jeans and love the dress on you. I know we’re seeing a cropped photo but based on your height and size I think it suits you. You don’t look like you’re wearing a shapeless rag!

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 04/12/2025 10:31

I like the second jeans, also pop a belt with them and then a tight fitting top? And some chunky sandals with heels.

I also like the dress, you have a great figure, yes the neckline is high but you could add a really chunky necklace and bling it up? Again chunky sandals and a nice bag!

Where are the jeans from? I've been looking for wide leg jeans too, I like those. I'd go for the smaller ones, jeans get bigger once you've worn them a bit.

Sorry, I don't like the dress at all.

TaupeRaven · 04/12/2025 10:42

I wouldn't go for either pair of jeans. The smaller pair look a bit neat for the style they look like they're supposed to be, and they're a bit short. The bigger pair are too big, so I think your best bet is a different pair altogether.

The dress is fine, in the nicest possible way; I imagine there are lots of dresses out there that would have the wow factor on you, but I appreciate you're short of time. If last year's dress is gorgeous, wear that. If not, the one in the photo is perfectly inoffensive and appropriate.

LadyClumber · 04/12/2025 11:06

The smaller jeans fit you better on your hips. Agree, though, that they are too short. Is there any scope to let down the hem to lengthen?

The dress looks lovely on you and I think you could get a lot of wear out of it by dressing it or down. If you want to wear it to a party, I think you will need to dress it up with statement accessories - jewellery/ shoes, etc. Maybe even a black sequin blazer to wear over the dress (if you can get to a shop)?

Owly11 · 04/12/2025 11:15

Neither jeans are good. The dress looks great.

Loooper · 04/12/2025 11:19

The bigger jeans look funkier, I like them. You can definitely pull them off. I like the dress too.

The jeans are from Zara : https://www.zara.com/uk/en/z1975-loose-wide-leg-high-waist-jeans-p06147196.html?v1=495712081

I like the bigger jeans (the others look old fashioned and not in a good way). I like the dress - I like non-fussy clothes and similar size and height to you). I would wear black tights and heeled ankle boots with the dress.

Fabulous green ones, can't got wrong nude ones or party sparkles.

I know the dress isn't amazing, but it's for an informal sports club annual do - people will come in anything from jeans and a nice, black tie, party dresses and garden party attire.

That looks quite dated with shoes I’d go chunky boots and tights

BringBackCatsEyes · 04/12/2025 21:51

I haven't got chunky boots.

Any other shoes?

TheChosenTwo · 04/12/2025 22:05

I don’t think the bigger jeans swamp you, I really like them and would choose those ones. But I like my jeans to almost touch the floor!
The dress is nice and I’m quite anti accessories in general, I disagree with going mad with them.
I don’t really like the shoe choices but be honest, who looks and critiques someone’s outfit from head to toe, especially at a function, no one will be looking at your feet so wear what you like and feel comfortable with.
I’d go either with heeled boots or flat clompy boots myself and one simple gold bangle or something.

Ireolu · 04/12/2025 23:27

The longer bigger jeans look good. That's how I wear mine, with chunky trainers and a belt!
Also like the dress. I like with the green shoes. You look great

bizkittt · 04/12/2025 23:29

The green shoes are nice

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 05/12/2025 06:46

Will you be wearing the jeans with flats or heels? The smaller/tighter ones fit well and would be good with flats (I suspect).

The dress looks good. Modern but with a classic feel. Do you look good in black? Many people have a hard time pulling it off that close to the face (I happen to be one of those people😅).

I’d combine the dress with some visually interesting tights.

Just saw the update. Yes to the dress, that looks really good.

I personally don’t like any of these shoes. Do you have a black heels? Or some chunky black boots?

If you don’t (and seeing as you don’t have time to shop), you could wear the dress with nude tights and the nude pumps. That’s a clean, classic look. Not quite my cup of tea (and to me personally a little dated) but it would work…

NameinVane · 05/12/2025 08:29

Bigger jeans look far better I think. Dress looks good on you. Neither of the shoes are quite right imo

XmasCrumble · 05/12/2025 10:17

You have a great figure @BringBackCatsEyes and I think the black dress looks great with the green shoes. Some statement(green) earrings and a red lip would look classy and festive! Enjoy your do!

BringBackCatsEyes · 07/12/2025 00:59

Turns out Claudia was wearing a dress with the same sort of fit (above the knee, loose) on Strictly this evening.
I had quite a few compliments last night. I wore the nude shoes.
I'm happy with how it turned out.

I like the first jeans I’ve just bought some very loose fitting jeans and they are great. Although I don’t get the love for trousers which trail along the floor, depends on which shoes you will be wearing with them.
The dress is ok, basic but ok. It will assessoricing. Bright shoes and bag, chunky bangle and earrings.

Sparklesandspandexgallore · 07/12/2025 07:41

Sorry didn’t see your update.

I've worn the looser jeans a few times and they don't drag on the floor. I am using a belt with them which I think has lifted them the few cm needed.

I am not a chunky accessories sort of person - more simple and understated.
