Hair topper advice (LH Enhancers)

Goatblu · 13/11/2025 13:46

Does anyone have experience of wearing hair toppers? My hair has been thinning for the last few years and nothing I've tried has helped.

I have an appointment with a company called LH Enhancers soon and wondered what I should be looking for?

If anyone has any experience with this company I'd appreciate hearing your opinion. Apparently they're rather expensive and I've found some reviews that say that they're very pushy and the pieces aren't that great. Bit worried now!

I asked because I’ve used a really good salon that specialises in wigs and toppers but it’s in Essex. I notice that LH Enhancers sell only real hair. I actually prefer synthetic hair as you have to style real hair as you would your own so synthetic is the lazy option that you just put on and go. If you buy a good brand like Raquel Welch, Gabor etc, their synthetics are very advanced and look very good. And of course they are an affordable option. If I were you I would try to find a specialist salon within travelling distance to you where you can get individual attention in a calm environment without the hard sell. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do. Hair loss is very distressing. 💐

I would recommend somewhere like this. There are others if you Google them. You are far more likely to get a caring and thorough service.

Thank you so much for the information @AppleDumplingWithCustard. I'm new to this so really appreciate the pointers - especially with the real Vs synthetic hair. I'd much prefer something I didn't have to faff around with. I lost interest in styling my own hair when it just became trying to cover up thin areas.

@AppleDumplingWithCustard would you mind sharing details of the place in Essex please. Thanks

Thank you

I have an enhancer from LH Enhancers and I wouldn’t recommend this company at all. I paid over £1,000 for a topper which was lovely when I bought it, but after only 2 or 3 washes it went really frizzy, and the hair started to fall out. I bought the ‘salon grade’ products they suggest, and I even bought a Steampod so I could style it like they did. I let it dry naturally and used cold air to blow dry once it was almost fully dry, so I looked after my investment well. I may as well have flushed my money down the toilet. They did replace it for me, however the second one is no better. Beyond disappointed. I don’t have money to waste like this, and I really thought this would be the solution to my hair loss problem.

Goatblu · 24/11/2025 21:13

I'm sorry to hear that @TwinkledStar as they're such an investment. Have you managed to find a better alternative?

I decided against buying one as the two colours they offered me wouldn't have blended well. There was also way too much hair on top for me and it looked wiggy. They're rather pushy with the sales I thought and I was disappointed I didn't get chance to browse myself.

I get mine from here OP. I bought one from Perfect Fringe two years ago after buying previous ones from Beautiful Betsy. After two years and lots of abuse with heat I’ve just bought a replacement. I’m really happy with it. It’s not cheap but it’s worth it to me not to have to worry about my awful hair loss.

Thank you @SleepDeprivedCatSlave, I've heard glowing reviews about this place before. Bit out of my price range for my first 'experiment' I think. I'd wear a topper maybe once a week and have really gone off the idea of real hair for such occasional use.

If I ever feel brave enough to wear a topper full time, I'll definitely bare them in mind.

How did you find the Beautiful Betsy ones? They're quite local to me but I've read mixed reviews.

A friend of mine (in Bath) is working with a company called Beautiful Betty (or Betsy?) and she's advising on toppers. I think she said they are about £240. As I cut my own hair with a No 7 I didn't pay much attention! If you want her details I can find out for you.

Just see the PP. Betsy, not Betty. That would be for Yorkshire puddings 😂

Goatblu · 06/12/2025 18:08

Thanks @Eyesopenwideawake. I've looked at the the Betty/Betsy website but can't find anything for £240 sadly.

I can't really advise on specific companies but I wore a topper for about 12 months when I was suffering hair loss and it was amazing.

Once you're over the 'I'm wearing a wig' feeling, they can look really natural and give you so much confidence.
Mine was a £60 online cheapo and I still got loads of complements, so embrace it and see it as an investment.

I was going to go to an Aderans near me which came recommended - their toppers seem to be around £150 mark, but thankfully, I have had success with topical Minoxydil and don't currently need a topper.

Goatblu · 06/12/2025 20:25

Thank you @203percent. I'm looking for a cheap-ish one to try. I can get away without but I'm so fed up of faffing with hair that I hate, I'd rather just be able to clip something on when I'm going out.

I'm glad you've had success with minoxidil.

The first Beautiful Betsy I had was fine. The second one wouldn’t sit properly and the clips hurt my head. The hair itself was ok but I didn’t like the cap as it didn’t look realistic.

Goatblu · 06/12/2025 18:08

Thanks @Eyesopenwideawake. I've looked at the the Betty/Betsy website but can't find anything for £240 sadly.

I checked with my friend and she said "the Agnes topper is our lightweight topper. Real hair starting at £245. And we offer online consults and in person consultations in Bath."

She's not on MN so happy to pass on her info directly if you'd like.

Goatblu · 10/12/2025 18:21

Thank you for the information. I have an appointment soon with a relatively local salon so I'll see what they advise.
