It's dark green.
Big party coming up - lots of people, some i don't know - i'd like to look glam but not stand out too much. I'm hour glass and bustier than the model.

Nude kitten heels? Nude tights?

Or should i try to find some dark green shoes? Or is that too matchy?Dark tights with dark shoes? Bare legs?!

I don't get out much these days! Haven't dressed up for ages. What are your thoughts?

I'd go gold

AngelinaFibres · 12/11/2025 21:42

Bare legs in December would look awful( unless you aren't in the UK).

chillinwithmygnomies · 12/11/2025 21:43

Bright pink would work well

fudgesmummy · 12/11/2025 21:43

@Lostuser My DM used to always say “Blue and Green should never be seen, without another colour in between” 😁

Was going to quote the same version of the saying!

Definitely not red! Have you not heard the rhyme? Red and green should never be seen

It's blue and green should never be seen. Or at least my mother always said that!
Red and green are a bit Buddy from Elf but you can actually get away with that in Dec.

24kPalamino · 12/11/2025 21:52

With such a sparkly dress, which is lovely by the way, I would definitely tone down accessories. I think black would be good. I would also wear nude tights unless you can pop on a bit of fake tan, or are lucky enough to have a natural glow. You’ll need something of your legs are very pale.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/11/2025 22:04

Red and green should never be seen. The truth according to my nan.

Red and green deffo too Buddy the elf.

NameChanged100thTime · 12/11/2025 22:18

How is the sizing of the dress? Is it true to size? Asking for a friend

Conniebygaslight · 12/11/2025 22:21

Laiste · 12/11/2025 20:13

Wow i didn't think of red!
Really?

Im warming to that ...

Red would be great and far better than nude shoes imo. If not red, go for green with red clutch or gold. Heels definitely not flats also btw x

Itsnaptime · 12/11/2025 22:27

See through tights or bare legged, lovely gold wrapped sandal heels with a gold clutch bag to match
Also maybe add in a small chain necklace with a diamond style. Really dainty and elegant

GettingFestiveNow · 12/11/2025 22:31

blue and green should never be seen.

I've heard this, but honestly, I think if it looks alright on pictures of planet Earth or lush tropical islands or forget-me-nots, it's probably OK.

StrongLikeMamma · 12/11/2025 22:37

gold shoes

bittertwisted · 12/11/2025 22:37

Burgundy would be nice
i would never wear tights with a dress like that
it’s gorgeous btw, great colour

DancingNotDrowning · 13/11/2025 00:22

absolutely not red - unless it’s a fancy dress party and you’re channelling an elf!

i’d do gold shoes and bare legs.

Thecows · 13/11/2025 00:26

I'd love DM's and a biker jacket with it

canklesmctacotits · 13/11/2025 04:41

Laiste · 12/11/2025 21:25

Either of these?

Neither of these because you don’t want a bow or buckle or ankle strap or patent leather as well as sequins. Also they’re very high. I’d say a low heel, pointy toes, plain design, sling back or closed. Check out Jimmy choo and look for a dupe.

But if you’re going to wear a biker jacket I don’t think this would work as an overall look. I think sequins + zips would be too much and the red would just be overall too confused.

canklesmctacotits · 13/11/2025 04:44

Something like this

Highlighta · 13/11/2025 04:53

No tights.
I would go with silver shoes, something like heeled sandals.

Something without too much detail as the dress has lots.

I thought the saying was red and green shouldn't be seen.

Soulstirring · 13/11/2025 05:21

A quick google search of google images for green sparkly dress shows all with bare legs and either gold or black shoes which look fab. Definitely not red.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/11/2025 06:29

Going against others, I think bare legs would be all wrong. Sheer black tights. Personally I’d prefer heeled ankle boots, but otherwise black suede heels.

FairyBatman · 13/11/2025 06:42

Just throwing into the mix bronze shoes would look fab. Any metallic would work I think. I’d agree no more sparkles and I think you could do red shoes only in December.

dudsville · 13/11/2025 07:29

Ooh great dress! And I like the shoes with the bow that you found, but I love the velvet shoe that @canklesmctacotits found too.

As for the rules of bygone eras, I think we're well over those now. You can wear so, so many colours with that dress.

ItsaCATnotalabrador · 13/11/2025 07:45

I wore a green dress (not sparkly) to a party with magenta heels. I thought it looked dramatic but in a good way.

Ophy83 · 13/11/2025 07:48

I think even with burgundy you're looking too much like Mrs Christmas. I'd go with gold or pink for the shoes.
