Multi pocket travel gilet for flight

They are quite expensive and need to be imported from the US, so I would like some advice before actually buying one!

How much stuff are you taking that a large handbag isbt big enough.

I would like to to fly out on Ryanair for a day or 2, probably multiple times. With a smallish handbag that will fit their measurements. I would like to take an ipad, phone, charger etc and enough clothes for a couple of days. They charge for a cabin bag, I am thinking that with a gilet with pockets (and maybe cargo trousers) I can manage without a cabin bag.

Where will your clothes go? Surely buying the vest is more expensive that an carry on bag.
What bag will you use on holiday when you are out walking about and what not.

Over multiple journeys at £60-70 a go, it would be more expensive to take a cabin bag.

I don't need many clothes for 1 or 2 days, 1 or 2 tops and pants. I am thinking also, a fold up backpack or bag that I can put in a pocket. And probably a kindle.

I am looking to see if anyone has experience of travelling very light, maybe you haven't then?

You could put the Kindle app on your phone, that’s already one less thing to take

The underseat bags are still over night bag size. I don't think you'll need much more for a couple of nights and a daft gillet really won't make much difference. I'm pretty sure you can walk on with bag in one hand and kindle in the other. Needing a gillet isn't traveling light!

I think you're confused! No cabin bag means no 50cm overhead locker bag, not NO bag at all. You can take a medium size rucksack that fits under the seat in front of you. That's still 35(?)cm, which is bag for life size.

And iPad and a kindle is ridiculous for a day or 2, surely you could just not take these and use your phone to cover both?

What would the back pack be for if folded in your pockets?

You're allowed a backpack , there are size restrictions and it has to fit under the seat in front and isn't allowed in the overhead locker but Ryanair have actually recently increased the size of bag you're allowed for free. It's plenty for a few days away.
Edited to add you are not allowed a handbag as well as the backpack, so you do need to fit it all in one.

Yep as pp have said the underseat bag will be a better bet and is Included in price of ticket. We’re just back from 4 nights in Vienna and managed fine with just underseat bags - I took a nylon handbag too (the ubiquitous Uniqlo one) to use when I was there but this could fit inside the underseat bag.

You can easily fit a weekend's worth of stuff in an under the seat sized small holdall, handbag or rucksack. No need to import a fancy gilet from the US!

It's light and cheap. I have one almost identical from home bargains.

Kindle change of clothes makeup chargers and a crossword book no problem. I'd get spare leggings, thin trousers top pants and socks in here too I'm pretty sure.

While I can see the gilet may seem like a good idea from experience I think it will be more hassle than it is worth. My DH has flown a couple of times with cargo type trousers with extra pockets. Both times he has been made to empty all his pockets. It wasn’t even the case of him trying to take extra items in them, but they contained things like a pack of tissues, mints, paperwork etc.

Bags that fit their under seat bag rules are actually more than spacious enough for your needs, have a google you’ll find loads doesn’t have to be a small handbag

Get a stuffable neck pillow. You can wear it round your neck when you are boarding

One thing I've stopped bringing with me is a tablet/iPad, since my up to date phone has everything I need. But if OP needs iPad for work, well that's different obv!

I have the regulation size Ryanair backpack. Honestly it is absolutely unreal what you can fit in there if packed properly and all "just in case" items are left behind. I click and collect at Boots if needed for toiletries. Vacuum compression bags are great provided you use uncrushable clothes or have an iron waiting for you other end! There are vacuum compression bags now that have a little usb powered pump. I must get some....

I rarely do the underseat only trips now, but when I did I managed fine for up to four or even five days with the underseat bag. It depends on the reason for the journey I suppose, if hen party or other fun trip a checked bag or overhead bag is probably needed. For a sightseeing/family visit etc. trip, the underseat would do.

I use a Rohan gilet as I have a very small baggage allowance for safari flights in Kenya. I stuff all my camera batteries, chargers etc in the pockets. It also has a large internal pocket on the back where I put my iPad. That’s a bit uncomfortable when sitting but I take it out immediately on the aeroplane.
It works well for me. Similar gilets in fishing or outdoor shops.

Because it's absurd. You can easily fit 2 days worth of stuff in a under seat cabin bag. I have recently returned from a 5 day trip and easily fitted all my stuff in an under seat duffle bag.

Maybe I am grumpy as I had two flights the wekend just gone that had delays and chaotic boarding because of idiots who want to take more than the allowance they ooked but are too tight to pay for locker or hold luggage.
